All, as the heading says when I install a tar.gz file to /tmp on a DM500 using a PLi Jade 3 or any of ther overnight Open PLi images it simply will not install. I get a successfull install message with 0kb used for the install. When I check the directories to see if the files have been installed they are not there. I have to manually out files in appropriate directories. This does not seem to be an issue with later versions of Dreambox. Is there some issue with the DM500 that means a PLi image cannot manually install plugins. Thanks

I think your /var space or memory is too low. Did you try this on a clean image?

Totally fresh image, tried on both Pli Jade 3 and Open PLi image. I thought it was my fault but I have since noticed other people posting the exact same problem on _www.satellites.co.uk. It does seem to be specific to the DM500 as people have said that no such issue has been seen on DM600 and above. It does say the install is successful, indicates the amount of space available in /var/ and then is approx 850kb which should be loads for any plugin

This only happens with a manual install? Not if you install something from software management?

Can you post the file /var/etc/software.xml here?
And which image did you use? The normal or the maxvar one?

Most of the stuff looks ok. It does hit an error towards the end. I don't want to include too much stuff. However if you can't find what you want I'll certainly supply more. Would love to get to the bottom of this. The image is not a maxvar. Its an OpenPli night build. However this also happens with PLI Jade 3. Thanks for taking a look and if you need further just ask

edit: removed pasted XML-HTML rubbish. Please paste it text-only in a code block (the [#] button), or attach the original file to the post.

No problems in the software.xml file.
Can you type this in telnet and post the output here?

free
ls -lR /tmp (the "l" is "L" in small letters)
