Plugin HddSleep v1.64

- standby 5 internal/ usb external disks.
- set time for standby
- manual standby for each disk
- epg.dat file can be placed to any pluged device.
- display mounted devices

Instal, restart, set build-in hdd standby to "no standby" and set stanby time for disks there in plugin.

This is only voor old harddisks.
I assume that most enigma2 users choose a harddisk that already spindown/shut off by themselves. Most modern hdd have this, often combined with the name green (Western Digital) or eco (Samsung).

Dreambox Dm8000 with all hardware addons donated to OpenPli. No interests anymore in policy of CanalDigitaal / M7 group and now-a-days channel encryption (like CI+ / HD+).

Good luck Enigma2 / OpenPli, it was fun with Sky Movies and so on, collected a nice collection of movies. Now back to basic boring lineair TV with KPN iTV (VDSL2 pair bonding 219 / 63 Mbps).

The VDSL pair bonding is excellent for... torrents to NAS in higher quality then HDTV (Like Dolby-TrueHD or DTS-Master-Audio soundquality ) :D

Hi,

i don't if if this Plugin is really needed for entering HDD Spinoff (Standby) for external connected USB-HDD-Drives. Or do you have external USB-HDD-Devices that won't put into Standby with E2 integrated HDD-Spinoff function? If so, using this Plugin does it really help to Spinoff your Devices? Maybe i can find a better working and more integrated solution for you.

Yes, my HDD USB disks must use this plugin for Standby.

And I am using this plugin for changing path for epg.dat too.

Hi ims,

so you are able to test this: Install attached IPK.

and call command manually: sdparm --flexible --readonly --command=stop /dev/sda

where /dev/sda must be replaced with your USB-HDD-Devicename.

Let me know, if your USB-HDD also Spinoff like with the HDDSleep Plugin.

Hi together,

as promised here comes the more integrated Solution for the setSleep Function to be used in conjuntion with the sdparm Bitbake Package to be build first and included in the Image. All parts are tested.

This Patch should fix the issue, when some external connected USB-HDD (like in IMS case) won't Spin down (Standby).

OK, it is good patch for E2.

I will using plugin still yet, because I need different times for disks ( shared disk in local network is better run longer time). E2 has only common setting in this time.

Hi,

feel free to use it. It's mainly intended for people not being forced to have a further Plugin installed, when it's generally only USB-HDD Spin down related and whereas one Global Setting for HDD-Spin down is sufficient for them.

under def startIdle must be changed lines for external usb disk too:

				 # disable HDD standby timer
				 if self.bus() == "External":
						 Console().ePopen(("sdparm", "sdparm", "--set=SCT=0", self.disk_path))
				 else:
						 Console().ePopen(("hdparm", "hdparm", "-S0", self.disk_path))

Hi,

maybe someone will commit my suggested sdparm Enhancement directly into OpenPLi-E2 Git.

Your Addition --set=SCT=0 is a replacement for hdparms "-S <n>" Option

for setting the Standby condition timer, <n> has 5 second units (roughly) while <m> has 100 ms units.

Hi ims,

I have terrible problems with my external USB-HDD Buffalo HD-PCU2.

After the (standby) shutdown it starts again und will not stop.

Have you got an advise for me?
