From what I can understand @pieterg just made general recommendation to not to turn sink sync setting on in any circumstances, based on our discussion with @christophecvr about sync property. With which I full agree with, sync has to be turned off.

I'm not sure why do you guys think, that it has anything to do with some of my commited patches to dvbmediasink. If you read patch descriptions everything should be clear.

@mx3L

I can confirm that reverting http://cgit.freedesk...27188ffae73c543 fixes the problem on my Zgemma receiver.

Also it didn't break on my spark receiver.

I'm going to to test more receivers.

Thanks again!

Most likely never. It will probably be part of OpenPLi 5.

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Pro (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

I do have plenty of (mainly audio) issues with streaming and playback - Gstreamer 1.6.0...

Maybe it would be wiser not to rush things next time? Just a thought....

@MastaG

no problem ;)

@gorski

It would be more helpful if you could post links to samples which are not working as expected, so we can test them. Please also include info about image, dvbmediasink, applied patches, etc..

Uh, I am very sorry, mx3L, right now not that much time to edit/cut them up and post somewhere, for many reasons...

I just tested the following STBs (over a couple of weeks or so):

XP1000

GigaBlue HD X1

Red Eagle TwinBox LCD

using PBNIGMA 5.1 (based on OpenPLi and OpenViX but not confined to those...)

with ciefp's IPTV list and almost nothing works from it...

IPTV Player (always the latest) - almost nothing from HasBahCa's EX-YU list doesn't work but FilmOn part does, for instance (more details in that thread).

I also tested F500HD with PBNIGMA 3.01 and the above list and plugin - and there, many more IPTV channels work (Gstreamer 0.1).

I am also testing playback over my home network, usually from my old Synology NAS (NFS), mostly going to my "Concerts" shared folder:

Clapton live (full DVD): "One more car, one more rider" (and a few more DVDs when I have the time, like "Allman Bros. Band (feat. Eric Clapton) Live in NY 2009")

Billy Idol "Live in Chicago" (heavy bit-rate mkv 1080p DTS) and sometimes Beyonce "I am yours" live, similar mkv...

G3 Live (Satriani and co.) - "Live in concert/Denver/Tokyo" (avis)

J.L. Hooker & Santana The Healer" (flv)

David Sanctions "Live at my father's place" (mp4)

etc. etc.

Sorry, I can't go into each container and find the exact codecs now.

All taken from the net (DVDs from torrents, flv and most mp4 from YouTube etc.), so it wouldn't be easy for me to post bits to test, sorry... Not now, anyhow...

Yeah, gstreamer 1.6 does have some issues.

I'm using mostly mx3L's work-around which removes the video caps from the mediasink:

         "mpegversion = (int) { 1, 2 }, "

-        VIDEO_CAPS "; "
+    "video/x-h264; "
 #endif
 #ifdef HAVE_H263

This seems to fix a lot of issues on both my DM800Se and Zgemma Star receiver.

It's strange but by me dm8000 works ok for all with latest multisink and enigma2. and gstreamer-1.6.

The vuduo2 works for all as long the LCD4linux is completely uninstalled.

In OpenATV forum there are a couple of VU+ users with problems with Gstreamer 1.6. I have tested the streams and I have no problem with my Xtrend box.
In the evening I will test with my VU box.
Curious that you christophecvr with your VU don't have the problems.

Christopher, try to install the openuitzendinggemist plugin and try to play a sbs6 gemist stream. Just a random episode.

See if it gives you a black screen.

I have tested iptv updater streams with OpenATV image on vu solo se. I only have a little glitch at stream start at the bottom of the image. Not the other mentioned problems(sound appears but no image and after several seconds sound and image is there but not in sync).

I try to test more in the next days.

Note I have a vuduo2. But I well must work whitout LCD4Linux. Once the plugin is installed(even with lcd screen set to off) many streams stops working and syncro issues shows up. It must really be uninstalled.

@MastaG I do not have sbs6 in my abbonement. But On vuduo2 I can use hbbtv. On ned1,2,3 . But by me it was always like that (even on gst-0.1) that de majority off series do not work.

But it looks that h.263 does not work 264 since latest patch off mx3L well. h263 is by vuduo2 only sound. by dm8000 nothing. h264 works fine sound and image. But before the last patch with the extra header add by mx3L h.264 had same problems.

@christopher I meant the enigma2-plugin-extensions-openuitzendinggemist plugin it's free and only requires a working internet connection. it's in the feed as well.

Then go to "SBS6 Gemist" and try to play a random stream.

Yes I will test that when time permits.

What I well noticed is that something with current used headers and caps is wrong.

It will not be easy to find , and I'm not so shure it's gstreamer self. I start even more to think to check, if the patch wich lets only basesink to decide about caps is right.

By an stb the majority off audio is decoded by gstreamer plugins and converted to raw audio stream. The video however is only done by stb chipset decoding stb does not support raw video.

This means that we need to decide normally self hat we do in our sinks in function off stb's. And actually can't let decide the basesink in this case.

Like for example mkv container.

Media type video HD h264 audio ac3 , a lot off stb's do have this codecs , and it will work nice if you let the basesink decide about the caps.

Media type video HD h264 audio mp3 , audio will be done with gstreamer plugin for mp3 audio and send as a raw audio stream to stb. video is done by stb chipset onboard codecs.

If then you let the basesink decide we will run into troubles. Gues handle off video caps needs to be done like we did before in gst-0.1.

However it will be testing to find out all the possible settings. and :

Try to let handle off as much like possible streams via basesink self.

Then do an intervention with manually set caps based on the detected media type by others without the use of basesink autodetect features which actually screws it up for some media.

On top of it its not only the media type which decides from the line to follow , also the stb type is important.

Only one remark: Most (or all) boxes can handle MP3 data. No need to convert it to raw audio in software.

Only one remark: Most (or all) boxes can handle MP3 data. No need to convert it to raw audio in software.

Yes You right. but actually that's the key now.  One stb other stb and media type.

Somehow we are concentrating the efforts to one specific media type with one box, and other times not enough  ok a bit philosophical :rolleyes:

We are with gst-1.0 much further then ever was with gst-0.1 . The range off media well supported (and better working) is much bigger.

Thank's to the images build off MastaG the testers enviroment did well grow much more then it was. And yes revealed new issues, yes very modern media in general is working better on gst-1.x . Older media (and or stream channels using older codecs looks to be broken) .

I did for example received a test stream with mkv h263 and mp3 audio video is HD which does not work at all on dm8000 by vuduo2 only audio works. On pc the stream works perfect.

I'm waiting on an answer from person who send it to me if I can post the stream link here. (It's a test stream so gess it will be ok)

Don't use livestreamersrv, use GStreamer only and set extra-headers (config.mediaplayer.extraHeaders).

How do I set the extra Header ? What is the exact typo ?
