Hi,
I want to install a bigger disk : 4 TO instead of the 2 TO but when I want to initialize it, there is an error (I've joined the error message). Can Openpli helps me or gives me an explanation please?
Thank you .

The mkfs process is started as a background process and might complete even if enigma failed.
On second look at the stacktrace, I see it already fails in killPartitiontable. This a very early step in the process and probably fails because it doesn't determine the devicename correctly.

Sorry, I'm not sure I understand : I wanted to use Gparted on my PC which is a software tool, to initialize the disk.
And when you write your Enigma uses /usr/sbin/sfdisk, ok and I think it' s the same thing on my box because I don't touch anything.

Ok but I think this disk has a problem because when I install it in my PC, it is very very slow and Windows doesn't want to start. When I start with Gparted, the PC is also very very slow and Gparted lists a very big lot of errors and I can't do anything with this disk .
I have also a 3 TO disk and neither Windows, neither Gparted have any problem.

Hi,
@blzr,
seems that to initialize >2TB disks in the STB you need to use parted (which, in theory, should be automatically installed, when a 'large' disk is detected during initialization)...
possibly you can check if you have parted installed:
that's absolutely correct and it works also in practice i have test it some months ago.
also if users want to do that manually it's possible to do this directly on the box with telnet (no pc needed).
but one thing thereto (for a internal disc it works without problems) but here i have an external case for hdd with usb-2.0 and esata
and if i connect it with usb-2.0 to the box then it didn't work to initialize it correct because then a 3 tb hdd is only recognised with a capacity
of circa 800 mb ( maybe it's a limit from the usb chip on this case but i don't know).
if i connect the case then with esata then initialize works correct with hdds greater then 2 tb in this case.
regards

As I have connected the disk in esata, I could initialize it from the Main menu, something as "System", "Hard disk", "Initialisation" in English I think.
1.5 year ago, it only saw 800 GB in esata for a 3 TO "virgin" disk, that's why I did 2 partitions. Now it's good .
