I am running a vu duo2 running latest nightly build OpenPLI4

HBBTV is no go,

it is installed both opera and hbbtv,

I can select the hbbtv application on blue button press, or red button,

but that is all that happens,

How can I try to see what is happening and where issue is,

We are new to HBBTV and the std they say they are using is 1.5.

1 tune to service that offers hbbtv (see infobar)

2 press red button

3 wait for "[* start]" message to appear on screen

4 now press red button again

Xtrend ET 4000. Exactly the same problem. Only the bar of the browser (Exit taste) and does not work any URL

HbbTV is a bit becoming the 'lemon' of applications. Have removed it from my boxes. HbbTV does not follow standards and crashes your box. Secondly, you would need a reasonable fast (very fast) CPU and enough internal memory to run... If the German HbbTV works, the Dutch will not. Fix the Dutch and the German won't work.... Same for Open Uitzending Gemist. Content providers wan't to tie you to their equipment and sabotage everything else..

Not sure what's wrong then: I've got no issues with HbbTV on German & Dutch services on my boxes. Even the old DUO handles HbbTV just fine.

I don't think these people press the red button TWICE.

Pressing 'RED' needs to be done once to cause a shift from 'RED' into 'GREEN' immediately, GSOD that is....

Ok, so I have a VU+Duo2 here myself. This is what I did from a clean flash.

- install hbbtv from the "add plugins" menu
- restart the receiver
- I pressed the red button
- waited a few seconds
- then a "red" button "on" appeared on the screen (for a few seconds)
- pressed "red" again
- and now I see hbbtv

So I really think it's either an operating error, or the channel simply doesn't feature hbbtv, or there is an error in the hbbtv format on this service (which tends to happen on some services).

The problem is not the red button, long press, etc. About two weeks ago, the plugin worked fine on my Xtrend 4000 (for example, I saw an episode of Lilyhammer on Arte without problems, stop or various slowdowns ). After a normal software update, it does not work any more. The following happens: Using the long press red button apparently nothing happens, except while pressing the MENU or EXIT key a bar of the browser appears on the top, with which I cannot to anything except navigating along the menus. If I insert a URL it remains blocked. I tried to uninstall, reinstall, openopera, old version, nothing happens. Perhaps a library couldn´t work. How can I install a "clean"? Flashing back the box, honestly is not the answer.

The hbbtv plugin of the VU+ receivers is something completely different than that of the Xtrend receivers. The hbbtv implementation is supplied by the manufacturer. I don't have an Xtrend 4000 to test their hbbtv support.

I think is is compatablility in the hbbtv standard for this service,

the hbbtv is only new service here  and they say only available on certified devices, so with updates further on, this may work.

When they say "only available on certified devices" they actually mean: "proprietary implementation" aka not using standards.

Shame, I can't check then. We have various services here (NL, France, Germany) that work just fine.
