Hello my friends.I am new to this forum and i have recently install openpli 2.1 beta to my dreambox dm800.The image is great and i don't have problems.I am very satisfied with it.

The only problem i have is with the greek subtitles which are doesn't appears greek but they appears like symbols(chinese) in the movies i play from my usb stick or over my home network.I think there is problem with the unicode but i couldn't find where to fix it.The subtitles are in .srt format and they played well to my pc and to another media player box i have.I switch the language to  dreambox from English to Greek but nothing happend.

So if anyone knows how to fix it  i will be glad. :)

Thank you for your time.

Just install the missing codepage for Greek ISO.

opkg update
opkg install glibc-gconv-iso8859-7
reboot
PS. Most probably you don't have Unicode .srt subtitles but ISO.

With Greek language or English? (Try with Greek language) If error persists try to convert subtitle to utf-8, it should work with any language.

Actually utf-8 was always working with OpenPLi.

Although lately there was an addition in Enigma2 and when you selecting Greek language, it sets the GST_SUBTITLE_ENCODING='ISO-8859-7'
instead of the default ISO-8859-15.

OFC glibc-gconv-iso8859-7 must be install for this to work.

Can you send me a link to subtitle in order to see why after installing the missing codepage and selecting Greek language didn't display correctly the symbols?

Hey Guys,

I have the same problem too with cyrillic subtitles... Few weeks ago everything was fine (with unicode .srt file), but now nothing seems to work.

I tried to change the codepage of the .srt file in all cyrillic formats, but none are displayed right... (using UltraEdit for the conversion)

Please suggest...

Can you upload the subtitle or give link to download and check it?

Also what language do you have and what receiver?

Hello,

The Subtitles you attached where encoded in UTF-8 without BOM.

I simply change the encoding to UTF-8 (with notepad++) and not it seems to work.

Your subs work just fine... It seems the Ultraedit on my Mac is not working as it should...
