Hello, please allow a novice to query: In Ireland DVB-T2 is transmitted from two multiplexes, so viewing and recording of programs that are on different multiplexes is impossible. I have a PlayTV connected to an Alien2+ with PKT Hyperion V4 image 0270201209300000. This is great software, everyone is to be thorroughly complimented, but there is a very evident absence of a user manual (I have been writing one and might post it), and guidance to break in novices like me.

I have been trying without success to install dib0700 drivers (for the PlayTV tuners) for some time. Firstly it is difficult to find the dib0700 package. The latest I have found is usbtuner_0.7.3_all.ipk  Then an 'opkg install' fails on dependency issues: first that module-init-tools is not installed, then that enigma2 is not from 2.6git20091014. 'opkg --force-depends install' fails too for the same reasons. Then it is nearly impossible to find a module-init-tools.ipk, and the only one I could find fails to install. The forums are very vague and even ambiguous about the status of support for dib0700 drivers and their dependencies.

Can someone *please please* give a step-by-step guide to installing the latest dib0700 drivers and their dependencies ?

I hope this Play-TV USB stick is at least fully USB 2.0 compatible and the USB on your box as well. Otherwise you would be in for a big disappointment when you DO get the drivers installed...

Best way to get the drivers is to contact the builders of the image you wish to use. They can include them in the building environment since they own the source code.. In OpenPli these drivers can be easily installed from the feed..

The Sony PlayTV is not a stick, it's an optional extra for the Sony PS3, see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PlayTV  Yes, it is USB2 compatible, and the Amiko Alien2+ box does recognize the hardware is connected (The PlayTV is listed in /proc/bus/usb/devices). And the PlayTV works fine as a dual-DVB-T2 tuner on the PS3, and also on MythTV and OpenElec.

You say, 'easily installed from the feed' -- the PKT feeds defined in /etc/opkg/official-feed.conf do not include the dib0700 drivers or module-init-tools.ipk.

Can you give me the URL for a feed that does include these packages?  [they would need to be as compiled for the ST7162]

Alien2+ *DOES* support OpenPLi courtesy of the PKTeam Hyperion V4 distribution, see: http://www.pkteam.pl...hp?f=111&t=6273

A really nice piece of work, really works well with the Alien2+, pity the website is mostly in Polish.

The above webpage says PKT SVN-2860 HYPERION v4 Image SH4 Duckbox Project GIT-5580.

But I have the later SVN-2874 installed (Enigma2 2013-11-13, with kernel 2.1.32.59_stm24_0211).

All the menus say "OpenPli".

You say "Dib0700 amongst others is in the OpenPli feed"

What are the URLs of the OpenPLi feeds ?    Tell me that, and I'll add them to /etc/opkg/official-feed.conf  (so I can try to install the dib0700 drivers).

  Cheers, Brian

They say that does not mean thay they are indeed OpenPLi, especially since it is sh4.

No it does *not* it is clearly a ripped and modified version. If the site site www.openpli.org does not mention your box it is simply not the real thing. Don't dump questions in the OpenPli official forum for your modded version. Refer to their website/forum instead..

Ouch, apologies, I never realised that might be the case, or that it could be such a touchy subject.

It does say clearly 'SH4 Duckbox Project' alright.

It's simple: if you call it "OpenPLi", people come here for support. And sometimes it takes us quite some time to figure out it's not our image that is running, it's an image from someone not only using our sources, but also the name and sometimes artwork.

The first one is allowed (and they may called it "Based on OpenPLi"), the second absolutely not. Given the fact you see the name OpenPLi mentioned, they clearly violate our copyright and trademark.

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Pro (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.
