Your are right with OpenATV und streaming aborting.

I see on git-hub OpenATV some switches for aborting things when claiming tuners for recordings (aborting PIP, aborts fo streams) . There  are  many codeline inside some sourcefiles to handle this (RecordingConfig.py, RecordTimer.py and some core files. They have added a Recordtype to have the information later which one can abortet or nit.

But I love on the other side openpli, alle 3 boxes run openpli and actually I don´t want to switch to OpenATV, because then I will start vom scratch with all 3 boxes

I think  about an easierer way for streaming abort. Do you think is it possible to start a streaming as a playservice (like watching TV) instead of a recordservice. I think playservices are abortable

I´ve tested it with two et9200 and openpli 4.0 from end of december 2015

I´ve programmed 2 timers  with 2 minutes space between starttime in the first box,   then stream from the other box one channel from the first box. Then frist timer starts and works. when the second timer starts the  first  box will switch the channel but can´t do it because the streams blocks it.

How do you have tested it?

What do you think about a solution to stop streaming when timers need the tuners

I think about the config parameter

Recordings always have priority

In the setup menu

If this parameter was set to yes, then it is logical that a timer must abort a stream if the timer claims a new tuner

Is that a right statement?

Do you have in the PLI team plans to implement in the future the function for aborting streams if timer claims a tuner and noone is free?

Technically, a stream is the same as a recording, only the destination of the datastream differs. Such a feature is not being discussed at the moment.

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Pro (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

But from the user view a stream from a remote receiver has often the same priority as a live tv channel. Normally enigma switches the live TV to the channel for the claiming timer if no free tuner is available.

With no stream abort the timer conflict management of enigma has no chance to work successfully and the result ist, some movies where not recorde. So when a user has mixes situations with timers on all boxes and remote streams from the other box if the local tuner are busy, the timer programming is not secure

I know that, but unfortunately code doesn't work with "a users perception" of how things work.

It means a datastructure needs to be added to record what datastream is going to where, i.e. what the type is, it needs a mechanism to move this datastructure around, and to query it, it needs additional config settings to handle the additional options, and it needs code to deal with all that. We've already been looking at the option to be able to simply list all the streams that are running in a GUI panel, and in itself is already quite complicated.

So although it looks very simple from the outside, reality is very different. For complex issues such as this, you really need a developer that sees the added benefit of this feature, so he's willing to spend a lot of his spare time working on this feature. Not sure there is a developer present that is willing to give this a high priority, but who knows, they can all read your request...

I don't read PM -> if you have something to ask or to report, do it in the forum so others can benefit. I don't take freelance jobs.
Ik lees geen PM -> als je iets te vragen of te melden hebt, doe het op het forum, zodat anderen er ook wat aan hebben.

I Unterstand

One idea around that. Do you have informations inside the actual datastructures to see if a recording from a tuner  writes to a normal file or file over samba (NAS share) for normal movies or writes so the tcp stream for remote streaming, If yes  you  can make the decision based on the filenamestructur to see if it is a normal runer recording to a file or a streaming job

I don´t know if it work but that is my idea
