Actual "About" screen is not optimal, imho. Here are variants, how could be it changed.

I don`t know a method, but in "backupsuite.log" (a file in backup directory after backup with plugin backupsuite) there is shown this date ...

I use in the BackupSuite this:
FLASHED=`date -r /etc/version +%Y.%m.%d_%H:%M`
(or the content of /etc/version)
