lately I noticed many movies or playing very bad on solo2 with the latest software

not being able to forward/rewind, long time to start first getting the wheels

other times not staring the movie at all

today again with mkv, yesterday with mp4

I started the old vuduo, and that played the movie perfect

It is well known issue by openpli team but they say they can't do anything because vu+ provided bad drivers.

I have only one question for openpli team , why mediaplayer in vti images is working well?

@speed I'm using image from December 2013 where everything works well , If you want I can upload for you somewhere.

Is step skip working normal...
We cannot solve driver issues... And we cannot work-a-round driver issues as we have to keep the other boxes also running and we do not want if vu then structures in our sourcecode, vti is for example a vu only image based on vu's manufacturer's image.... They can work-a-round stuff much more easily...

So is the kernel blocking ability to use older drivers , where everything worked OK ? Let me explain better , can we use current version of kernel with older driver? Do you know this for sure or openpli team just assume this.

Don't get me wrong but at the moment all images for solo2 are useless, unusable. You could basically not distribute them at all.

Thank god I have one old image where everything works ok.

I discovered the same problems. Since 3-4 (maybe some more) days i can not play mpg (mpeg2) files. The movie does not start. I have also tested files that i played before and they also don't work.

Last time i flashed is more or less 1 month ago.

Edit:

File shows: MPEG sequence, v2, program multiplex

You don't have to, you can decide to use the version you now have.

Flashing is peanuts, I don't see what the problem is, we flash most boxes daily. Done within 10 minutes, not much longer than een update plus a reboot, and definitely quicker when there are hundreds of updates.

VU is very busy modernizing their image environment (i.e. switching from the old DMM code to OpenPLi code), including driver updates and upgrades to more recent kernels. Which is a good thing, and yes, that requires a flash.

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Pro (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

The "problem" is that after you have updated it is too late. So now you can say "ha, you get a warning!". Yes, of course. But i use openpli for years now and the warning was always there. Flashing might be easy for you, but not for me. I have a lot of things like picons, special channel settings, network shares, cam, settings and so on. Last time i tried the backup function, but most of the things wasn't backuped.

Ok, to keep a long story short: I always liked openpli, and i like to hear that VU is modernizing their things. But i hope some day this came to an end and the "normal" update works again. Because this was one of the great things of openpli, not flashing always a new image.

BTW: Last time i broke some recordings after flashing because of wrong settings. My friend girl wasn't amused!

tip:
in autobackup plugin press Menu > 'Select files to backup',
then, you can manually select any file (or a folder) you'd like to be backuped (in addition to the default ones)

Correct... Discovered this one a while ago too and  I added some oscam resources and now flashing is indeed peanuts :)

My fileshare to my nas I have added manually to fstab and that file is included standard in autobackup so no worry about setting up shares after flash.

Ok ok, i reflash and i try to optimize autobackup ;) Thx for this very useful tip!

But i still hope some day this will came to an end and reflashing is not necessary.

I discovered also some ugly bugs with the newer images. Shutdown for example is not working always. But hard to fix if "all" is under construction.

If you notice an issue, always report. If it can be confirmed, we can pass it on to VU+ to get it fixed.
