Hi all,

 

As I tried to mention it in the title, I've got a small problem with the Remote Control on the Webif.

 

The full remote doesn't have those buttons and I find this a bit annoying. 

 

Is it normal ? Is there smth I can do ?

 

PS: I'm on Dreambox 8000 and I know it's not really offcially supported anymore...

For what you need this button on Openwebif RC, when you must watching movies over VLC and then this buttons have no effect for playback ?

I need those buttons in this particular case :

 

- I remotely take control on my PC from which I'd like to start a direct record of a program.

- In the same case, if I need to pause or stop (etc.) a video I'm remotely streaming.

It's a veryyy long time since I used the original webif but I think to remember it did,yes. Not 100% sure though.

I made a patch OpenWebif for dm8000.

It will now use the native remote.

You're only two questions.

No, those buttons don't work either (otherwie I wouldn't open sucha feed)

I don't really understand your question. Yes I use these two buttons and the other 2 as well.

why don't we make/suggest one generic RC for all boxes? I fail to see the advantage of mimicking the original RC's, including the fact that one can hardly read the buttons.

Of course that would imply that some buttons don't work on all boxes (like F1 etc), but IMHO that's not important at all.

Let's not exaggerate; there are some differences.
But what does it matter?

What does it matter if some buttons don't work for a specific box? Or what does it matter if buttons like 'F1' are not on the RC?

Main point is that a generic lay-out is super simple to maintain and text on buttons can be made legible.

 

Or let me give an other example: I never ever use any device-RC, but only Logitech Harmony's. So on the web-RC I don't have a clue what button to use (apart from a number of obvious ones) , especially as no text is readable.
