where's the "normal" partnerbox ?
Posted 8 February 2016 - 22:23
I use partnerbox to set/manage timers on the local & the remote boxes - not for streaming.
and as for the fallback tuner : using it breaks timer sanity checks creating more problems than it's worth. there are several topics on this issue, running as we speak.
if I need really need a fallback tuner then I'll use the streaming option in partnerbox : this won't break my planned timers

Partnerbox != Remotetimer if you have more than 1 remote receiver...
And remotetimer doesn't work anymore. It tells me "Set timer on remote receiver via webif <blah, blah>" but there is no timer set. And yes, updated today.

I also need PartnerBox to manage timers on remote boxes, locally and over Internet.
Do you plan to add it again to the extensions list in plugins managment ?

Yes, sorry, I thought that the remotetimer wasn't working because I couldn't find the recordered files...
And that is because remotetimer isn't honouring the "location" field in the timer setup. I want to place the files in /hdd/movie/tmp (standard location for me and for the remote box) and remotetimer puts these files in /hdd/movie.
I checked, and it works.
Partnerbox OK
Remotetimer OK (see screenshots)

Can you be more specific? It doesn't honour what exactly? The default recording location?
That is pretty logical, box A has no access to the config of box B, so it has no clue what the defaults for box B are. The plugin shows the locations as defined locally on box A. Afaik there is no webif command to fetch the list of locations from a box, perhaps that should be added.

As said, there is no mechanism for the plugin to query the remote box for defined locations.
Looking in the code, there is an option "Use remote directory". If that is set to "yes", it will use the default location of the remote box, but that means you can't use custom locations anymore, it's one or the other.
I just make sure the local box had the same location definitions as the remote box. As I never record anything on my "local" boxes, it doesn't matter that those locations don't all exist locally.

All my 2 boxes (et10k & dm8k) use the same deafult recording location.
I will test it with "use remote directory" set to TRUE.
