MKV and AVI files does not play

Trying OpenPLi-unstable-dm500hd-20100416.nfi out.
Works out fine with TV functions, but when using the built-in Media Player and trying to play AVI or MKV files the screen just goes black (TS files previously recorded using a DM600 box shows up just fine though).
Is it a known bug, should I try another version of OpenPLi or something else?

AVI & MKV are "container formats", do the files you're trying to play contain a supported codec like mpeg2 or H.264 ?
i.e. MKV technically "could" contain Realmedia, quicktime, etc...

The MKV is h264 (avc1 if viewing codec information in VLC) and the AVI is xvid. I wonder what can be wrong, it just shows a black screen on every movie except TS files. What version of OpenPLi are you running and is it on the 500HD (if something isn't working with that box, shouldn't matter I guess)?
Another question. Does external subtitles (srt) files show for you?
