Hello,

I have just installed this image (Dec 9, last upgrade Dec 10) and as an OpenPLi newbie I would like to ask the following:

1) Menu -> Setup -> System -> Record:

"Behavior of 'pause' when paused" - this setting is given twice. Is this intentional or is this just a mistake?

"Behavior of 0 key in PIP-mode" - this setting is given twice. Once under "Record" menu and once under "Customize" menu. Is this intentional or is this just a mistake?

"Alternative services tuner priority" - this setting is given twice. Once under "Record" menu and once under "Customize" menu. Is this intentional or is this just a mistake?

What does "Recording data sync size" option mean?

What does "Recording demux buffer size" option mean?
2) Menu -> Setup -> System -> Customize:

Does "Show EIT now/next in infobar" option work only if "Enable EIT EPG" is set as "yes" or does it work independently? And one more thing. As I am using XMLTV Import for just 2 packages, I wouldn't like XMLTV Import data to be overwritten by EIT now and next events but at the same time I would like to have NOW and NEXT events for those channels which do not have any XMLTV data. Is this possible?

What does "Disable background scanning" option mean? What do you mean by "scanning" in this sense?
3) Blue Panel -> Ppanels -> CCcam Ppanel -> ECM Info:

I get the following error:
cat: can't open '/tmp/ecm.info': No such file or directory
execute error 1
Where is this ecm.info file?

Well, now it works: Blue Panel -> Ppanels -> CCcam Ppanel -> ECM Info.
All I did was upload the following 2 files: CCcam.channelinfo and CCcam.providers. But I'm not sure if this had anything to do with the error.

Anyway, I would like someone to reply to my questions 1 and 2 of my first post.

From the wiki

Disable background scanning - Stop the system updating new found channels automatically.

All solved now (so the answer was: It's a mistake).

Simple answer: Don't change unless an OpenPLi developer asks you to.

Slightly more technical answer: The "demux buffer" is inbetween the tuner (driver) and the software. A larger buffer may help preventing overflows, but uses extra resources which then may cause more problems than it solves. So leave at the default unless you know what you're doing.
The "data sync" is a workaround that DMM implemented (and still uses in their images), but is no longer required on OpenPLi. It "pushes" the data from the system RAM to the disk or network in blocks of the given size, rather than letting the OS handle it. The only situation where this has shown to help a bit is when you are recording many streams to an NFS share. On internal disks and CIFS shares, better leave it disabled and let the OS deal with caching.

Then it would be handy if "default" could be set. Once the settings have been (accidentally) changed, one has no idea to what value it has to be set.

Intresting, i got no internel HDD, i am using a nfs share, so for me its also not required, because of the newer Kernel? Or do you think its better to set a value for the "data sync" option?

Don't set it if you don't have any problems. In most cases, there is no need to set it. Any other setting than "disabled" will reduce performance, it will only make the traffic to the NFS server less "bursty".

OK, so do I just go to BLUE PANEL -> Software management -> Software update -> Unattended upgrade without GUI and reboot system?
And the image will be upgraded without me losing any data or settings?

Yes...and as a bonus, you get an "ipkupgrade.log" stashed away at /home/root... keeping track of those downloads which is useful for troubleshooting if need be.

Enjoy!!!.

Would it be possible to add "default" to the settings?
