I am using epg import since a few days.
Is it then better to leave EIT EPG on, or off?

I have it off.

The EPG system supports multiple EPG sources, so if you leave it on, you'll have double EPG information stored, which uses memory, and can cause odd side effects, depending on which source has priority.

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Pro (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

Depends on the satellites and channels you watch. XMLTV has a limited set of data; if you're watching channels outside the Rytec-bouquets, I would set EIT (and/or another EPG is applicable) to 'on'. This may lead to (slightly) different data (multiple entries) for the channels that are covered by both.
Best would be to set EIT to 'on' for selected satellites or channels only, but that's not possible.

All EPG data is treated the same way, irrespective of the source. The box doesn't even 'know' the provenance of data once it's in the system.

Old topic, but seems to be a good tip!

I changed EIT EPG to off and untill now the VU+ solo doesn't freeze anymore from time to time.

It's a workaround. This issue (crash in epgcache.cpp) has been found (we think), and is currently being tested.

Thx WanWizard for this info. Any idea when the solution will be placed in an update for VU+solo2?

It is being tested, if no side effects are found I'll backport the fix to 7.2-release. This Sundaynights build might be a bit too soon, but we'll see what the test feedback is...
