[VU+] [Duo²] AC3+ / Dolby Digital Plus iss...
Pr2 4 Oct 2013
Hi,
I am starting a specific post to discuss the AC3+ sound problem with VU+ Duo².
On a AC3+ channel the sound is not send through HDMI to the amplifier/TV capable to decode AC3+ sound.
You can test it yourself here go to Astra 19.2E 11302 H 22000 2/3 8PSK
Check for ServusTV HD Deutschland (FTA channel)
Press the yellow button and select audio track 4: AC3+ (by default you have sound since it is the MPEG sound)
I have no sound on this channel on the Vu+ Duo².
Remark 1: this work fine on a Xtrend ET-9000 so it is not a cable or amplifier problem. It is clearly on the VU+ side that there is a problem.
Remark 2: I have also the problem on the french channel on Eutelsat 5A (5.0W) but they are scrambled so you probably not test on those channels

But on SOLO2 & DUO2 the AC3+ track is silent (downmix off; when set to 'on' stereo sound is there).
All above boxes are connected to the same amp using SPDIF.
PS: Not sure if I should mention the Solo2 here, as the tread is about DUO2.

Hi,
Problem is already escalated to VU+ thanks to this link.
http://www.vuplus.co...eportWrite.html
But if Openpli has a direct contact with VU+ would be nice if you can escalate the problem from your side too.

@Pr2, can you update about the issue please?
I could see in git that 20131023 drivers has a 'Fix DDP passthrough (solo2, duo2)' fix. I assume it DDP stands for DolbyDigitalPlus.
I am a DM8000 user currently, but I am going to switch to another box (guess why) and DD+ passthrough is one of my top priorities.
Regards.

Hi,
I have tested this patch and this gives lots of micro-cut in sound and finally the sound is gone (no more sound), this was a real pain and make the box unuasable on DD+ channels because it also break the downmix which had the same problem...
So I pack back the VU+ Duo² and return it to my friend and go back to my Xtrend ET-9000 where everything is working fine.
So I can no longer report VU+ Duo² issues now.

BTW, can you recall driver's version, or point of time of your testing?

Many many thanks, dirocca.
You have duo2 2xDVBS2 dual cards (from your signature) and you must be using DVB-T usb dongle. Is that correct?
Regards.

I've got a duo2 and can play dd+ too, but after playing for about 10mins and switching back to dd or mpeg the sound is not smooth on those tracks. Nothing helps but deep restart.
