ET9200 doesn't boot after update

zamzon's Photo zamzon 22 Apr 2014

Dear PLiers,

  • From running openpli-3.0-20120916 system (Kernel 3.4.3) I started Setup/Sorftware Update. It looked promissing, but the box failed to start after reboot (only xtrend logo)
  • Than I tried to flash current OpenPLi-4.0-beta-et9x00-20140422_usb.zip, from USB stick, but same result: Flashing successful, but box simply hangs at boot: Only Xtrend logo on the screen.
  • Than I flashed back the old openpli-3.0-20120916, repeated the setup and the box is running again.

So how do I update correctly?

Do I have to prepare or do anything else before flashing/updating? The wiki is not too helpfull on this question.

Any ideas, suggestions?

Thomas

Do you have access to the box via telnet?
If yes, execute this in telnet
init 4
enigma2
I guess e2 stops after 1-3 seconds with a "framebuffer is not available" message...

Sounds like an old bootloader?

What is shown on the display when you boot the box? Et9200 or et9x00?

Thanks a lot for your support! I did update the bootloader once, but I can't find the image/zip.

When booting the RS232 says:

BCM97413B1 CFE v2.26, CFE core v2.12, Endian Mode: Little
Build Date: Sat Dec 10 11:20:16 WEST 2011 (Administrator@buildserver)
Copyright © Broadcom Corporation.

I only find the date of the current bootloader (2011-10-21), but no version is stated..

www.et-view-support.com  seems down..

Should I flash 4.0 again and check with telnet (init 4, enigma2)?

What is shown on the display when you boot the box? Et9200 or et9x00?

ET9X00 is displayed

Then it's the correct bootloader.

Battery dead, tpm dead. The same old story from Xtrend. When we will have those promised drivers that no longer check tpm? I have four dead boxes waiting for this (no I will not pay 60 euros for a replacement tpm board - xtrend has to deliver a free fix for this).

Try first this old bootloader than the newer one. (the file i have renamed to et9x00)

The box is not dead. When I flash the old openpli-3.0-20120916 the box is booting nicely.. (as I've written in my first post).

As there is always some risk involved, when flashing a bootloader, I'm really wondering, what switching back and forth boot loader version, could cause/fix for updating to openPLi 4.0?

Strange enough with openhdf-et9x00-940-20140422_usb.zip (http://v4.hdfreaks.c...php?dir=et9x00/), the box is booting find, even if the same error happens:

@malakudi

Is your statement Battery(TPM) dead refering to:

UNC read error occurred, while reading from NAND flash -1
0x80001000//8067200 0x807b2880//163984 Entry address is 0x805f07f0

What might this error mean to me?

Any idea?

If your box boot with any older image, my statement is invalid. If the tpm board is dead, no driver can be loaded, older or newer.

I am not quite the expert on this, but this suggests problems with the flash memory? Maybe the older image is smaller and doesn't reach the bad section?

Thank you all for your support, but I guess I'll stick to the HDF-Team-Image. as it runs quite good. They did (and hopefully do) a very good job, IMHO.
