OpenWebif was broken in commit 401d3521f6f2537ce58d0135c94fd6937d3f77b7.

On machines running OpenPLi 4.0, there is no module gzip ...

Just run:

opkg update
opkg install python-compression

On machines running OpenPLi 4 there is module gzip if plugin dependencies (RDEPENDS) are correct. So the correct way to fix that is to fix dependencies of E2Openplugins than blame OpenPLi for missing modules.

Is it not possible to put this command in the update? With this update many users break the webif's

It's inside the bitbake recipe already ...

We are still missing an update of e2openplugins submodule (meta-openpli/recipes-openpli/e2openplugins). Unfortunately this is not done automatically (yet).

Probably any time soon will happen
