Have a strange problem on all my Dreamboxes(and am not alone). When watching any HD channel from Canal Digital the sound is horrible ex: TV4HD sound crappy but TV4 sound ok... And even more strange is that all my Vu+Solo2 boxes are ok...

This is becoming a hughe problem in Sweden for all with a Dreambox and Canal Digital.

My hardware is 2 DM7020HD / 2 Vu+Solo2 boxes all connect to the same T90 and LNB

All boxes running openpli4 latest and greatest.

Any one got clue

Can you specify which audio coding is used on the HD channel?  AC3 or AC3+?

Do you have this problem with AC3 downmix ON or OFF or in both case?

Well the AC3 downmix is ON if i turn it off the sound is off as well. But could you tell me a way to see which audi coding is in fact used ? am use to unix/Linux command line so just hit me

I have also the same problem, how can we help you to help us to get rid of this annoying sound issue? The thing is that the sound is really crap on HD channels like TV3HD and TV4HD. Also noticed that it is the left channel which causes "wobble" when the sound has more bass that usual, like when playing music and commercials. Have tested with rca and optical, no difference. 

Same louzy sound here, seems to be higher bit rate AC3 streams, did some test recordings the one i tried with bad sound were 2ch 576kbit.

Another that sounds ok is 6ch 384kbit.

Any bitrate over 384 kbit is AC3+.

Not all receivers/tv's etc. can handle this, which is probably why you have no sound without AC3 downmix.

I can confirm I have the same issue on a DM500HD and on a VU+ Solo SE the issue do not exist.

Is there any solution or way to find the root cause of this issue so far?

Any bitrate over 384 kbit is AC3+.

Not all receivers/tv's etc. can handle this, which is probably why you have no sound without AC3 downmix.

Well not so sure VLC says Codec A52 and not A/52 B which it does when playing E-AC3 (ac3+)

So I think the bad sound still originates from a plain AC3, which should allow bitrates up to 640kbit

That one was recorded on TV4 HD at 0.8W

I just tried the latest openpli-4.0-beta-dm800se-20141107, that's supposed to have ac3+ patch?

The sound is slightly better but I can still hear the sound getting distorted especially when music is played. Not that easy to distinguish if just talk...

I also hear the "artifacts" on lower bitrate AC3 now, like this 6ch 384kbit grabbed from C More Hits...

are it on ur box u hear this artifacts? i cant her it on pc and on my satelittbox but i have a vu+ duo

i have to Tv4HD and cmore hd channels and Norwegian NRK in HD and ac3  but i cant hear it

There are no problems with vu+, only with dreambox. There are many who have tried vu+ and the sound is great. Also, the problem is only with satellite, not with cable.

Still no solution? Now, over 20,000 people viewed the thread + other threads have started up around the same problem.  And yes my vu+ boxes are ok with openpli...

But you have to compile the image your self since OpenPLi is not accepting "box specific" hacks into Enigma2.
