Is there any possibility that this USB DVB-T/T2/C tuner work on ET10000 ?  ID 2040:0264

https://www.linuxtv....ge_WinTV-soloHD

I've read that it uses em28XX drivers, but I install them, and it isn't detected.

I've installed:

enigma2-plugin-drivers-dvb-usb-em28xx - 1.0-r0.0
kernel-module-em28xx - 4.0.1-r0.3.4
kernel-module-em28xx-dvb - 4.0.1-r0.3.4

and /lib/firmware/dvb-demod-si2168-b40-01.fw

dmesg just shows:

usb 4-1: new high-speed USB device number 2 using ehci-brcm

em28XX is only a class of hardware, there are many chips and revisions. The kernel of the et10000 is not quite the newest and will not support the newer em28xx chips.

OK.

It's surprising that a 8 year old PC supports it, and a 3 year old STB don't.

It depends which OS you use. You call install latest Ubuntu or whatever distribution with quite new kernel on an 8 years old PC. But you cannot use latest kernel on a STB as manufacturer drivers only work with specific (in many cases old) kernel.

How new/uptodate your kernel is, is up to the manufacturer. If they're not interested in having a new kernel, you're basically screwed. The et10k hasn't had real updates for ages, so don't expect a new kernel, ever.

On the other hand, USB tuners is a disaster anyway, don't do it.

OK.

My own experience with USB tuners is different depending on tuner type.

USB DVB-S/S2 tuners don't work fine, but I have no problems using USB DVB-T tuners.

On my ET 10K I have a AverTV HD tuner, and always OK.

I have the exact same issue, same usb tuner....did you get anywhere with this ?

TIA

Open ATV 6.0, which uses kernel 4.10.6 on ET10K, has support for this tuner. I've checked it and works correctly.

You are always free to buy one and try it. But we give absolutely no guarantee.

I don't need to buy one, if you read my first 2 posts I said I tried to install something, so If I tried to install was because I had one..... ;)

Thanks to a PLi member I've got an experimental image which has kernel 4.10.6, and I've got 4 USB tuners working.

Apart from the 2 ones which I do already have working in OpenPli4 (TBS-5925 and DVB-T A835B)... I've got working:

The Technisat USB SkyStar HD which I never got working in Openpli4 (there are some topics in this forum) , and the WinTV Solo HD (similar to pctv292e, em28xx).

On a Octagon SF4008 4K using Satdream image, (OpenPLi based), i wasn't able to make it working.

I had to 'Google' several hours to find how to solve the problem.

On a telnet session:

root@sf4008:~# modprobe em28xx card=94
root@sf4008:~# echo "2040 0264" > /sys/bus/usb/drivers/em28xx/new_id

made it worked, so I solved it by creating a enigma2_pre_start.sh file in /usr/bin/ (chmod 755) and writing inside these commands, and now it works fine.

modprobe em28xx card=94
echo "2040 0264" > /sys/bus/usb/drivers/em28xx/new_id

Maybe it's the same problem.
