Since yesterday evening around 8 I have troubles reaching the forum and wiki on my pc (the other parts of the site do work). When I go to forums.openpli.org I get redirected to openpli.org (Firefox on win 10 and also tried with edge). I also took over my work pc to try with that one (on a seperate location, connection and router), same problem. On my phone (that is connected through wifi on the same router) it does work (except when I put the browser from mobile to desktop mode then it also won't work).

Moved to the English section.

Since yesterday evening around 8 I have troubles reaching the forum and wiki on my pc (the other parts of the site do work). We've been preparing for GDPR compliance, the new EU law that goes into effect on the 25th of May.

When you access our websites, you will be asked to read our data and privacy policies, and give your consent, before you can access our websites.

Appearently the new code introduced last night wasn't entirely bugfree. This should be fixed now.

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Pro (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

Looked at it but still doesn't work (and if it were the cookies it should work on edge). Both pc's however do have an adjusted hosts file from http://winhelp2002.mvps.org/hosts2.htm

Could it be a third party site is contacted that is in the hosts file?

Nope.

Both the forum and the wiki check for the existence of the "gdpr-accepted" cookie in the .openpli.org domain, and if that doesn't exist, you are redirected to the homepage. And the homepage will display a banner if that cookie does not exist, and creates that cookie when you click on the link on the right to clear the banner.

If you go the the homepage (https://openpli.org), do you see the banner at the top?

You can press Shift-F9 in Firefox to open the debugger and look at the storage. View your cookies, you need to have:

Tried 3 browsers:

- Edge: I see the banner and when I click the red cross the cross disappears (but the green banner remains) and after a few seconds the cross is back again

- Opera: I see the banner and when I click it I can continue (I'm typing this in opera now)

- Firefox: I don't see the banner. I do have some privacy add ons (see screenprint) so probably one of them is the cause. I will have to investigate further which one(s)

I see lots of add ons that delete cookies. That is no longer going to work.

No, I'll have to put openpli on the white list in some of them. But is your solution so different from others (as I don't have any other site/forum in the whitelist and they all work fine).

Probably.

Most other (commercial) sites only store consent server-side, linked to an account. So you don't need a cookie. We can't, as most of our info is public, and we do collect data (in the sense of the law) from people without an account.

So a cookie is the only option, as sessions expire, which means we would loose the consent of the user once that does.

I have now added to the cookie policy that the cookies listed there are required to access our websites, and may not be blocked or deleted.

Good idea in case others run into the same problem. I'll put in some whitelists this evening, it should then work again. Thanks for your support.

Solved, the add in "I don't care about cookies" was responsible for not showing the banner. When I disabled it the banner showed up and after pressing the red cross the forum was accessible again (whithout any whitelisting in the other add ins)

A disadvantage of the new policy (although I understand its purpose for GDPR) is that I can't use Google translate anymore. I wanted to read https://forums.openp...i-61-multiboot/ but my german is not that great so thought I'd translate it (https://translate.google.com/translate?hl=nl&sl=de&tl=en&u=https%3A%2F%2Fforums.openpli.org%2Ftopic%2F58817-openpli-61-multiboot) but unfortunately Google only gives the openpli.org page now.
