Most likely h264 codec is used. The box can only playback 4k files which were encoded with h265.

Hi mate. Is your answer based on my enigma2 crash? Is it what you are guessing? with no base or with it? I put the movie playing on a formuler f1 and only sound is playing, no video output is shown... then video is not h264, formuler can play this codec. I think zero 4k has a problem with... codec? what? I no have idea... there is some problem... I have installed ffmpeg package, not installed but it doesnt keep relation with x265...  but what I need is a full h265 package? vu+ dont provide this??... I dont know... so, anyone found this bug on playing 4k files??? I am getting the file, to know exactly its details of video and audio codec...

To tell the truth, the Formuler F4 turbo was also able to play Hevc 265 video and on Vu + Uno 4K those same files do not play box will always restart the GUI?

This is exactly the case I wrote above after running the movie with the GUI restarted. So it's not working.

The formuler don’t support 4k resolution. That’s why you can’t see the video whatever codec is used.
The zero4k can playback h265 4k videos in general. But e2 boxes are made to watch dvb-s/c/t broadcasts. They are not good media players. Don’t expect that all media files are running without problems.

Which has been explained many many times. Alas people want every STB to be a fully fledged mediaplayer and keep on trying.

well, before 4k format, the box can play all hd content, f.i. dreamplex... I think we are not ready for hevc h265, or it is more dificult to make it full compatible... to get this moment on this way, I prefer keep on h264, I think we dont need 4k for a domestic use, up to 65" tv screen. You can consider this: my formuler f1 plays vídeo files on .avi format, these same files cannot be played on zero 4k. thats at least curious... how tech is doing a reverse capability
pd: I have tested the files directly on an usb external hdd, not only on dreamplex...

First you say you understand and a few hours later you start all over again. You simply WANT to play all files and bought the wrong 4K box! I have explained you that a special broadcomm SoC is used in the Zero 4K. Again you said "I understand". But still you keep whining..
If you want a box that plays everything simply buy a mediaplayer.

i said i understand when somebody says the movie was on h264 codec but later i see its on h265 codec... have you read this??
buy a media player? that is not a justification, I think... the point is the codec, h264 easy to work with, h265 difficult.. its easy, isnt it?

The hardware/driver processes the h264/h265 data. Only VU or the chip manufacturer Broadcom can change it. We can’t do anything.

thats another source, not the same video I gave you and I tried, doesnt it?
Could you give me the same video file you have tested? my test was on a video with resolution 3840*1080 so if your source is full 4k maybe we have the key of a good working... this indicates that the video has to be full 4k 3840*2160...

I think the critical codecs are truehd and dobly atmos, they are both audio codec... I guess it... I hope in the future vu+ include more codec support on drivers,
