XTREND 7500 OpenPli 6.2 MediaPlayer 2 , DTS sound is off

Until last month I had no problem to play movies via MediaPlayer2 with sound in DTS codec, decoding to stereo was OK.

But now I have no sound - stereo, sound is off.

Other codecs, AAC, MP36 are OK.

Can you guyes fix it ?

Thank you very much

Nothing has changed for the Xtrend 7500 in dogs years, there haven't been any changes to 6.2 either.

And what is "mediaplayer 2"?

MEdiaplayer 2 is almost same version as regular mediaplayer, but it has support for subtitles with East European coding.

https://github.com/mx3L/mediaplayer2

But sound in DTS coding was working OK until few weeks ago.

should I try other player for movies ? but I need correct support for subtitles East European coding.

I don't know, all I can say is that:

  • The Xtrend BSP was last updated 9 months ago, so it is not caused by changed drivers
  • Enigma in 6.2-release was last changed in september, so it is not caused by a change in enigma
  • OE in 6.2-release hasn't changed since 6.2 was released

which makes it very unlikely the image itself is responsible for this.

Is this a media file that did play before, or some other file with DTS?

Quite possible.

difficult to say without knowing what your exact requirements are. The picture is digital, it is send out the way it came in, so don't expect much difference there.

Have you checked that DTS downmix to stereo is still active?

If your ET7500 is not connected to an amplifier, then it needs to downmix the DTS sound to stereo for you. You have perhaps change this parameter by mistake.

My requirements for new receiver is,

1. at least as fast as Xtrend 7500.

2. LAN connection, min 100Mb or more

3. some kind of movie player with enhanced support for subtitles - East europe coding.

4. working youtube plugin, shoutcast

5. stereou sounf output, hdmi outpu to TV, digital sound output

not much more

DTS downmix to stereo is still active, I was checked this at first place.

Movie with problem DTS sound is playing on PC OK.

Probably I will have to found different version of some movies form my collection.

Thanks

That sounds like any one will do. ;)

No HVEC? No 4K? No Tuner requirements?

Single tuner - is enough for me

4K - maybe in 3-4 yeras , not now

HEVC, h265 - could be useful,

my family is watching satelite position 23.5 E, or 0.8W - multifocus antena,

but we have a lot of movies on NAS disk - HD720, or HD1080, and quality of playing - with subtitles - is very important

front info display could be very helpfull, but not neccesary

VU+ is expensive, maybe something like Formuler F4 turbo ?

What chipset is more compatible:  MIPS, or Hisilicon ?

Sounds like you're more served with a simple cheap sat receiver and a good media player. An STB will never be a good media player, as it is limited to thatever the hardware provides, it can't run any software codecs.

Assuming the sat part of the 7500 works fine, you can probably get away with only the media player.

Many boxes have problems with DTS playback. A license is needed and many manufacturers don’t want to pay for it.

And even if it works, it's prone to issues.

Why doesn't the "author" of mediaplayer2 send it's improvements to us?

DTS coded is under licences - is good info.

project of 'mediaplayer2' and subsupport is on Github - I think -free to use.

So, the most important question is:

** Is any other mediaplayer - which is under continuous development - able to play movies form LAN-NAS with subtitles in East europe coding Page  - Win 1250 ??  **

thanks

An alternative is to abandon Microsoft proprietary code pages altogether and convert the subtitles to UTF-8. That is the real, proper solution and it will work everywhere.

Regarding STB abilities I haven't got any separate mediaplayer box before connected to my TV so I can't compare much. But uno4kse with openpli is great for playing movies from internal hdd or shared folder on my PC.

So it's almost perfect like media center besides receiving many channels from orbit and iptv of course. All easily and quickly accessible with one simple RC.

So thank you all so much for your work!

I also would like to have mediaplayer displaying correctly external subtitles in middle european encoding (win125j0). Although I don't need external subtitles very often. But as Erik Slagter wrote, converting them to utf-8 is very easy.

I have checked solution: subtitles should be in UTF8.

And YES, playing movie with subtitle Win1250 with regular mediaplayer - subtitles is showing incorrect,

after conversion to UTF8 - in Windows environment is f..e very good free text editor 'Notepad++', and it is able to convert to UTF8

and after conversion subtitles in standard mediaplayer are showing OK!!

I needed this info a lot years ago, but finally, this problem is solved.

My STB is able to fulfil all my needs perfectly

DTS sound, I will aware to download movies with DTS sound, AAC is working OK - always for while

THANKS ALL OF YOU for advice and help

HAPPY NEW YEAR

The sad thing is that UTF-8 has been around for ages and only Microsoft doesn't want to adapt it. All the rest of the world is using it, so no longer need for "code pages" (regional encodings).
