An interesting thing about AFN package at 9E.

Enigma2 boxes do not seem to recognize there may be subtitles included.

However, there are people reporting that subtitles (or "closed captions") are visible when streamed with VLC using OpenWebif.

Can someone please verify it?

If closed captions are indeed visible using VLC, is it possible to look into it from Enigma's point of view and make them available for Enigma2? ;)

Closed captions is a US subtitle standard. Afaik no other channel than AFN uses them in Europe, not sure how popular Enigma2 is in the US. It might become a bit more interesting with US based IPTV streams, which also have them.

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Pro (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

I read they are of DTVCC type.

Here is some explanation: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CEA-708

If there is already a code in C, is it possible to implement it and receive the subtitles on AFN channels using Enigma2?

Everything is possible, given a pair of hands and plenty of time.

I know there is opensource code available... but someone (with lots of free time) needs to adapt this to get it fit within E2...
