I am configuring a new PC (actually an old PC from my son) on Linux for grabbing the EPG.

At the moment I already have one linux PC running Ubuntu 14.04 (The new PC is 4 times faster)

The new one is Ubuntu 18.04

On Ubuntu 14.04 I use as a taskscheduler Gnome-Schedule (http://gnome-schedule.sourceforge.net/).  However this refuses to install on Ubuntu 18.04

On a sat receiver I can use cron and cronjobs.

However on a full Linux system this is a lot more complicated, and as a consequence, I cannot make head or tail from it.

So I am looking for a task-scheduler for Linux which is run from a GUI.

Or a GUI for the cron system would also do.

Of course it has to install on Ubuntu 18.04

I tried to search with Google, but did not find anything meaningfull.

Does anybody know about such an utility.  And where can I find it.

Willy

What is the difference between a cron job on the box or on any other linux device? Cron = Cron...

OK.  In the meantime I dived into cron on the PC, and figured it out.

And yes, it is just as simple.

So problem solved.

PS: I have real hopes for this new PC.  It has 8 cores (processors) and 12 GB of memory.  The old PC has 2 cores and 4 GB memory.

In most cases these issues stem from editing files manually, which are different and/or in different locations for different distro's.

The standard interface which should be used for user cron entries, "crontab -e", however always works.

Lets hope your tools are multithreading then... ;)

Oh yes..  At least I start 8 instances at the same time.

I watched it on the system monitor, and when I run 1 instance, only one processor shows activity.

When running 4 instances, I see 4 processors more active than the base level.  All approx the same percentage

I assume that linux, will run different instances on different processors.

The new (old) PC is running.  All EPG collected in 2h00.  The previous PC took 6 hours.
