Hi,
it is not useless because the DTS behavior depends on the used STB and the used player. On MIPS VUs DTS downmix is still working but on ARM VUs it is not but it worked until around 1 year ago (thanks VU thanks Broadcom:-(). Default E2 player solely uses the driver but serviceapp also does software decoding. With bitstream and real audio amp it should also work with ARM VUs.
It is unfair to say a plugin is useless because you cannot use it.
ciao

Nevetheless ON MY ARM Solo 4k it's useless. The image actually doesn't passthrough DTS via HDMI from m2ts files on my tv (tv support DTS decoding via HDMI source). Using serivceapp not a choice too, because exteplayer3 and gstplayer doesn't play near 60-70% of m2ts files.

In principle transport streams can carry whatever streams you want, in private streams. I guess there will be official or unofficial descriptors for those.
BluRay uses slightly modified transport streams, where the packet header includes a finegrained timestamp.
Having said that, I always try to avoid DTS because there is really no need for it and many systems have trouble playing it.
