What has happened to the picture of remote on the HotKey setup screen? Or am I imagining that it used to be shown?

What is the point in listing buttons in and expandable list when you cannot scroll down the list of buttons? i.e you cannot expand the list.

Don't think I've ever seen a remote picture there?

I would be open for any improvement. How do you envisage it should work?

The list of buttons should go. That can be done simply by removing the list widget from the hotkey setup screen.

With regards to displaying the remote, use similar way to how it is done in the wizard or when you press help in some screens.

And how do you want to select the buttons?... as the list is a tool to select them and note Some buttons (red green) do also control the ui.

the list of Hotkeys is here expandable (PlifullnightHD), which skin are you using?
<widget name="list" position="780,100" size="1110,912" scrollbarMode="showOnDemand"/>
to delete a key, select the Hotkey then CH+(-) and press Return to delete it, green to save it

Instead of ch+- you can also do yellow... as described below. This jumps to the selected function list where with ok you can remove functions and with the <> keys next to 0 you can reorder functions.
Internally we’re also have some discussions how to make this more clear to users as it seems users are somehow struggling here... but once you know it is clear...

In addition I’m afraid that some do not understand that you can add a list (multiple) functions to a key and that is why there is no simple add/remove.... maybe we need to consider just to add blue=remove all...

Just remove one.? What do you mean.. actually you can select what you want to remove... ? Yellow says there remove/reorder... you can assign more than one thing

Standard skin, pli full night hd. Please explain how you expand the list. The usual action is to press the buttons to navigate down. If you press down, instead of going down the list, you start setting up "down button".

Not here, up and down just go up and down, they don't select the "Up" and "Down" key.

I do think the use of keys in screens have to be looked at.

For example, most have a red key mapped to "Cancel" or "Exit", but every remote has an "Exit" or "Back" key that is normally used for that purpose, I can say I never ever use the red key, apart from the odd screen where "Exit" does not exit.  In some screens green is "Ok", in other "Save", in some you need another way to process the screen.

I've said it for years, and I stick with it: we need a UX designer for the GUI, and keep "geeks/developers" far away from it, the skillsets of both don't mix. There is nothing end-user friendly, intuitive, and modern at the moment. Functions like this, and for example bookmark editing, remind me more of Chucks famous "how to boil an egg, in 518 easy steps"...

Up down are keys that cannot be ‘hotkeyed’... just like ok, exit.... and a bit more... mainly because this are general used keys and we responde here on make which gives a feeling the response is about 200 msec faster... (for long short you detract on release of button and hold it for x time)...
Indeed the red key of exit, cancel, can be removed everywhere... that was always some kind of flow in the design.. but it’s e2...

That is a typical geek response. No end-user is going to be worried by 200ms... The same is true with long-presses, a feature for geeks only.

If you look at for example the Sky Digibox: from an end-user perspective it works a lot more intuitive, it has a consistent GUI, and it can be completely managed by 6 keys (up / down / left / right / ok / back), and any 80 year old can work with it.

Yes ... similar as "unnamed" TV producer and their remote (left, right,up,down,ok,back, home) ... everybody can work with it, but will be 10 years older than he something set.

Btw - Expand is under a lot of systems OK/Enter or doubleclick always... never "down". Combox is expanded with "down". But there in hotkeys (and on whole E2) is not combobox.

Lol. I don't think it is that bad, if it is designed properly. The same is true for for example the UI of a Playstation, which can also be navigated with a few keys.

And I haven't said it should not be allowed to have shortcuts, but currently having as many and as complex as possible seem to be the norm, and I don't think that is a good idea.

I'll test again. On release solo 4k, pressing down definitely activates the setup for down button.
