Vu zero 4k crop picture
frankviana 23 May 2019
Hi. I have vu zero 4k and see crop pictures for some channels. I did tests with all kind of configurations, but the problem don't desappear.
Using webif, I see complete image (no borders crop), but my tv appear crop borders, including configuration (both: webif and tv)
For all channels, I see crop using testscreens and for "SOME" channels I see for testscreens and dvb picture.
My other receivers, I see complete picture, including SX88. I don't know why for only few channels appear this way. I did tests with all kind of video settings.
I did tests with my 2 samsung boxes:
SAMSUNG UN49MU6300 (4k) and SAMSUNG UN40D5500 (1080p)
I don't understand why for few HD channels. I don't have problem with other HD/K4 channels.. appear 16:9 full
I don't understand too why this same channel appear ok using all my boxes android and my Octagon SX88 (same tv Samsung 4k), only changing source/input and lnb cable (vu zero 4k to sx88) nothing more...
Overscan both tv ok (+0%, +0%)
See the tests below (attach)

OpenPli I did only basic settings: network, manual transponder scan, testscreens.. nothing more...
Maybe drivers problem?
Thanks

But why only enigma2/Vu appear this way?Aspect ratio metadata is wrong. The broadcaster should fix it.
Here we have other channels too. Later I'll collect some video "samples"

I think the aspect ratio metadata is not exactly 16/9 or 4/3 (which is possible). Apparently other receivers act differently there. According to at least EBU AR should always be exactly 16/9 or 4/3.
AFAIK there is no AR metadata in the container (transport stream), the decoder has to rely on the elementrary stream (video stream) to be correct.
Enigma itself does no do anything with the AR metadata, because the transport stream is demuxed and decoded by the SoC's hardware.

We have the same on Astra 19.2E DVB-S 11538 V 22000 5.6 QPSK channel CGTN the displayed aspect ratio is wrong, left and right black borders
But the funny thing is that if I went into OpenWebif to download the screenshot the aspect ratio is correct there 16/9.
Another funny thing is that I can also receive this channel on Hotbird 13.0 DVB-S2 11585 V 27500 5/6 8PSK the image is correct there.
But always on Hotbird 13.0E on DVB-S 11033 V 27500 3/4 QPSK the same channel is wrong also left and right black borders (and also the format is correct if I try to download the image from OpenWebif).

OpenPLi has added a new feature in the develop image if you long press the green button on the RCU the image aspect ratio is changed.
This solved the problem that I mentionned on CGTN channel.

All informations related until now, here, after boutht zgemma h9s, confirm the problem around drivers, I think.
See difference between "crop/cut" border pictures, not only 16x9 to 4x3 resize.

I think now, we see the problem.
Same posts about another topic, about codec Main@L3 or High@L3.2 AVC codecs: Zgemma h9s open fine (Argentinisima channel) and dreambox/vu open only audio.
