Hello there,

I am using Openpli on my Dreambox and intend to connect SPDIF interface to my 5.1 audio system, i have noticed that even it is connected Dreambox output Audio through DVI interface.

could someone guide/explain the best practice for this connection? any related setting?

i know only AC3 Downmix which must be OFF to get all 5.1 channels.

Answer would the Appreciated

Hi,

afaik all current boxen have audio signal on all outputs that the box have so it is normal that you get a signal on DVI(?)/HDMI and SP/DIF.

What dreambox are we talking about? The last dreambox supported by OpenPLi was the dm825.

Of course Erik is referring to the DM800se or the DM800 or the DM8000.

Yeah exactly, the SE.

I never had one of these so I doesn't appear to stick in my memory. The numbering scheme of DMM is at least fuzzy.

Thanks All.

it was straightforward, if down mix is Enable on AC3/5.1, the Audio is output to SPDIF and DVI, but if Disable then it is only on SPDIF

Which is logical, because officially DVI can't carry audio (let alone AC3). Inofficially it can, just like HDMI does (same bitstream). But apparently no luck for AC3. Apparently DMM didn't care.

That's not true, AC3 is always output on DVI doesn't matter if you enable (as PCM) or disable (as bitstream) the downmix option.

He can also only talk about DM800PVR or DM8000 as no other box ever had a DVI port.
