Hello. How to run the wifi adapter realtek RTL8811AU ? On VTI, it was enough to install "enigma2-plugin-drivers-network-usb-rtl8812au - 1.0-r1"

Unfortunately, the card does not appear in the menu after installation.

Which box? Which OpenPli version?

We don't have meta packages (yet), the kernel module is called "kernel-module-8812au", which can be installed from the commandline, or using the software management plugin (advanced, package management).

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Pro (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

On the commandline, using "opkg install", or via the software management plugin, in package management.

an interesting 'twist' on this is, that openpli 7.2 DOES have this module:

root@vuduo2:/media/hdd# opkg list_installed | grep 8812au
kernel-module-8812au-3.13.5 - 4.3.14-r0.1
root@vuduo2:/media/hdd#

...but if you update/install 7.3 - this module doesn't exist (yet, as of today: 2020-12-18) :-(

It should be there. 7.3 builds the module.

Please do a

opkg update
opkg list | grep kernel-module-8812au

[root@openpli-dist openpli-7-release]# ls -l vuduo2/kernel-module-8812au*
-rwxrwsr--. 1 root openpli 770494 Jul 5 12:05 vuduo2/kernel-module-8812au-3.13.5_4.3.14-r0.2_vuduo2.ipk

Hello I am running a Vu+ zero with openpli 8.0 20210315.

I use it as a remote box to a Vu+ solo4K which

I want to use it in another room so I decided to change to wifi and ordered a Vu+ dual band wireless adapter 600 Mbps.

My windows 10 laptop recognizes it as a realtec RTL8811AU.

I installed the file " kernel-module-8812au-4.10.12_4.3.14-r0.0_h5.   ipk  " from thread 77062 via the software management plugin.

After reboot I still do not see anything under network accept the wired network adapter.

With PuTTY I scanned the USB port: Bus 001 Device 004: ID obda:0811

What makes you think a kernel driver from a zgemma h5 will work on a VU+ Zero? They have totally different kernel versions.

Also, why fiddle with some vague external ipk if the driver is available in the feed?

menu - plugins - software management -  advanced options - packet management.

Or just use

opkg install kernel-module-8812au

on the commandline.
