Hi All

I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction.  I own an Xtrend ET8500 with 2x S2 Tuners.  I want to add an extra Tuner for (UK Freeview) Terrestrial.  I've obtained a DVB Sky USB Tuner & have been told that it is compatible with my Xtrend & is compatible with the Openpli (7.2) Image.  I've been through every Driver in the Plugin Downloads, but unfortunately cannot get the Xtrend to recognise it.

The only Identifying marks on the USB Tuner are DVB Sky & on the reverse side DVD-T/T2/C.  It is White in colour.

Regards

If you have the skills to login with telnet, do so, issue the command "lsusb" with the device plugged in, so we can see the device ID and figure out if a driver for it is available.

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Pro (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

Device 0572:0320 requires the "kernel-module-dvb-usb-dvbsky" package, which can be installed via software management, package management, or via the commandline using:

opkg install kernel-module-dvb-usb-dvbsky

Hi WanWizard

I've followed your instructions (opkg install kernel-module-dvb-usb-dvbsky) & rebooted the Xtrend.  The Tuner is still not recognised & I don't see any additional drivers to install.  Am I missing something ?

Hi WTE

I've followed your advice, unfortunately still not recognising the USB Tuner.  I've borrowed & fitted a Xtrend DVC/T/T2 Internal Tuner, that works fine.  Below is the Information you requested.

I think your ET8500 has a driver problem. The USB tuner seems to been initialized right.

Hi WTE

Thank you.  I'm not sure where I go from here

I'll start from scratch over the weekend, i'll install a fresh image & start again.

Hi Guys

I've installed a Fresh (OpenPli 7.2) Image onto my Xtrend ET8500 & used the following commands:

opkg install kernel-module-dvb-usb-dvbsky

opkg install firmware-dvb-tuner-si2158-a20

Unfortunately the Xtrend still doesn't see the USB Tuner.  I've posted the dmesg below.

The device loads fine, so that's not it.

What is the output of

grep -r "" /proc/stb/bus

?

Good. So it sees the tuner just fine:

/proc/bus/nim_sockets:NIM Socket 2:
/proc/bus/nim_sockets: Type: DVB-C
/proc/bus/nim_sockets: Mode 0: DVB-T2
/proc/bus/nim_sockets: Mode 1: DVB-C
/proc/bus/nim_sockets: Mode 2: DVB-T
/proc/bus/nim_sockets: Name: Si216x
/proc/bus/nim_sockets: Frontend_Device: 2
/proc/bus/nim_sockets: Has_Ouput: yes
/proc/bus/nim_sockets: I2C_Device: 2

So you should have an A, B and C tuner now.

Hi WanWizard

No, Tuner C is an Internal DVB-C/T/T2 that I borrowed from a friend, I have to return it.  I Wanted to make sure that my Aerial signal was Strong enough.  The Xtrend is Not seeing the USB Tuner.  If it is easier, I can remove (Internal)Tuner C, but the Xtrend still does not see the USB Tuner, I've already tried without Tuner C installed.

Regards

Wizard

Hi WanWizard

I've removed the Internal Tuner © & just have the 2x DVB-S2 & the USB Tuner connected.

So it doesn't see it. As long as this is not addressed, the rest is pointless.

Only I have no clue why it doesn't see it, your dmesg shows everything is fine.
