My internal harddisk is broken on my ET9000 so I've plugged in a usb stick.
Recordings work, but timeshift doesn't.

I can't find a menu item in openpli 7.2 (June 6 2020 version) that allows me to

1) activate timeshift

2) specify the new path

Any ideas?

Timeshift usually is activated via the pause button. I have no et9000 available but I assume this will work on this box too unless there is no storage available.
You can set the timeshift location via menu - setup - system - user setup (change to expert first save and go one step back) and then go to recording locations. This will do the trick on my box so I expect also on yours.

Many thanks Frenske,

Part 1:

I had mistakenly set up the expert mode to advanced thinking that was the same as expert. Once I'd changed that the Recording paths appeared in the Expert settings menu.

Here are the complete menu paths according to 7.2 terminology for anyone running into the same problem

Setup->System->Expert settings->User mode

Setup->System->Expert settings->Recording paths

Part 2

In the Recording paths menu the first two recording settings were set to <default movie location> (couldn't figure out where that is configured) but the Timeshift location was set to /media/

I don't know why that didn't work (perhaps a logical path to where the broken internal disk used to be) but when I created a new directory and used this instead then timeshifting started working :)

Thanks again!

/media/ is not a location for a recoding at all... did you just remove the hdd and insert the usb stick?

That is the default value after you flash the box, and you don't have any device connected.

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Pro (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.
