update-rc.d: /etc/init.d/astra-sm: file does not exist
Yes, it doesn't exist because it's located at /etc/init.d/astra/astra-sm

Talking about astra-sm.....
It has been happening since I have astra-sm package on boxes several years ago.
When doing an online upgrade, and astra-sm is updated, box doesn't finish update (reboot) unless you kill astra-sm.
On screen we see "box is updating........." and after 5 minutes when you see it's still updating, you have to kill astra-sm on a telnet session.
Then box reboots instantly.
Same thing happens when you do a backup to flash a clean image,
When you're asked to restore settings, the top progress bar which shows restored % , it stops on astra-sm package.
Unless you kill it, it won't continue restoring.

In normal time.
For test I've bumped the version to 0.21 in recipe.
Could be that the -astra-sm: file does not exist- patch also has fixed the opkg upgrade problem you mention (update-rc.d problem),
Update: Too fast. Telnet session stuck after 'exit' command

Next time I'll try command line update, I always do the GUI (1 - recommended) option
It's not a new issue, I have seen it since years ago in other machines apart from SF8008, f.i. in ET10K...
You flash a (new) clean image, and when installed and asked to restore settings and plugins, you say "yes", and restoring process gets stuck in astra-sm module, at the beginning....
Then you kill astra-sm, and restoring continues....

With telnet the session stuck between -logout- and -Connection closed by foreign host- after install or update.
I have to start a second telnet session and give the command -kill 10706- (telnetd PID).
Hard to fix.
On the other hand, development of astra-sm is dead for years.
