@ims I doubt your PR will change anything on this matter. Apart that python 2 works with bytes by default, the crash described here is possibly related to the cpp code.

Hi, that PR is for the python3 branch... Nothing to do with the issue reported here.

My opinion is to sync the python3 branch with latest develop and keep doing in develop whatever you do. And sync again and again at a regular basis. The more time the python3 branch is left without updates from develop, the more difficult would be to sync with it, aka merge into it, when it's time.

 

Should I make a PR to sync python3 branch with the latest develop? Let me know.
