I know you said that Dimitrij, but that doesn't give me an answer as to "why". And I hate not knowing or understanding "why" .
The issue here is imho purely chipset, which is unrelated to the hardware design of the box, for the box USB is USB.
If it emulates a SCSI commandset, you need sdparm, it if emulates an ATA commandset, you need hdparm. Internal disks are always ATA, therefore hdparm always works.
It also means that the current "if it is usb then use sdparm" code in Enigma is wrong.

Heb je toevallig een tweede, niet gigablue, box, waar je die disk op aan kunt sluiten, en kunt kijken of het gedrag daar hetzelfde is, of anders?
