Hi,

Since a few days Autotimer stopped adding new timers.

Using: VU+ Duo 4K SE, Openpli v9.0, latest updates.

Why Autotimer does not add new timers?
How to fix it?
How can I debug this problem?

Please help!

Thanks,
Konrad

Nothing has changed to autotimer in 9.0-release, it hasn't changed since Jul 26, 2023.

Enable the search log and the debug log in the plugin (press menu twice when in the plugin), restart enigma, then run a search, and check the logs.

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

I have the same problem.
Been gone for a few days and the timer list is almost empty. Did a search and got it to show new timers in the list. I believe it is the timer within the auto timer that is not working.

That smells like corrupted EPG.

I did not find any logs and and I did remove the epg.dat just in case

I hade this working using OpenPli 8.3 and as soon as I switched to 9.0 the popup "Autotimer completed" did not show, but I got the timers list to increase. Probably due to manual intervention.

The crashlog might have to do with the problem.

I used the following steps to delete epg.dat:
- logged in with SSH into VU+ DUO 4K SE
- Used following commands in terminal:
init 4
mv /media/usb/epg.dat epg.dat.backup2
init 3

It seemed to work, but I got this error again:

Note: earlier I had this option turned off:
Menu/Setup/System/EPG/EPG settings/Correct invalid EPG data

So I deleted epg.dat again, but now I have Correct invalid EPG data option turned on.

Might turning on this option solve the problem?

Where can I Set "EPG encoding" to 'UTF-8'?

There is no such option in
Menu/Setup/System/EPG/EPG settings/

Thank you, I found it.
In
Menu / Plugin browser / Autotimer / Menu button / Edit new timer defaults / EPG Encoding
The EPG Encoding is already set to UTF-8.

I checked each enabled Autotimer entry and found one which had ISO8859-15 encoding set.
I changed it to UTF-8 and it seems the problem was fixed.

The Autotimer notification about update was displayed again, the missing Timer entries were added.

It seems there is a bug, when other than UTF-8 encoding is set, then fails to finish the process.

Maybe this problem was fixed by Dima73 in his last commit.

The problem I have with this, is that it may have fixed the crash, it doesn't fix the underlying problem, which is a string encoded in something else than UTF-8.

So the setting, and a conversion to UTF-8, is still needed, the current Python2 code should not be removed, it should be converted to Python3.

btw,

any idea what the EPG source was for that autotimer entry? EPG in Enigma should be in UTF-8, so if you have an entry in ISO8859-15, there may be more bugs to fix...
