A lot of IPTV providers have media that is total crap when it comes to encoding. One of the issues is the lack of timing tracks, either for audio, for subtitles, or for both.
When there is no timing track, the software has to "guess" when the right time to play it is. This is a lot easier with software codecs (like your PC uses), on the box media is played in hardware which can't be controlled or manupulated.
The only thing that is possible is to introduce a delay before the audio is send to the hardware for processing, which you can do in the audio menu, and requires a bit of test / guess work to find the correct amount of delay.
p.s. this is not specific to the DM8000, every STB has this issue.

You and a million other users I'd say .
But I don't see a solution, for the SoC audio and video are two seperate streams, and without a synchronisation track, the SoC isn't able to sync the two, it plays it as soon as it receives the data. Which is why artificially delaying the audio stream is the only option.
I have no idea how VLC manages the syc if the track is missing, and I don't have the skills to look in the code to find it...
