Hello everyone.
I would like to talk about a problem I have with my DM8000 HD all original that occurs with some I-P-T-V channels or even playing the same movie, after downloading and saving it on the internal HD, to understand if the problem is only mine or if it is due to the decoder now "old" or to the Player it uses.
In practice it happens that some channels/movies after a few seconds of playback lose synchronization between audio and video. The audio arrives much before the video.
If I play the same movie on my PC it has no problems and is perfect.
On the DM8000 I have the updated Openpli Ver 8.3 image, but I also tried with Ver 9 without success.
I don't know if it is a problem of HW that can't handle it anymore, or of low-performance drivers or of the decoder Player and I would like to ask the experts if they can give me an answer or a solution to this problem.
To allow you to understand what I'm talking about and to do the related tests I have uploaded a short video HERE.

Thank you all

A lot of IPTV providers have media that is total crap when it comes to encoding. One of the issues is the lack of timing tracks, either for audio, for subtitles, or for both.

When there is no timing track, the software has to "guess" when the right time to play it is. This is a lot easier with software codecs (like your PC uses), on the box media is played in hardware which can't be controlled or manupulated.

The only thing that is possible is to introduce a delay before the audio is send to the hardware for processing, which you can do in the audio menu, and requires a bit of test / guess work to find the correct amount of delay.

p.s. this is not specific to the DM8000, every STB has this issue.

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

yes, in fact I'm already using the "AudioSync" plugin but it's quite cumbersome and the final effect isn't always good.
I would be much happier if it were possible to find a way to avoid these tricks.
I tried to look for other Players like VLC that could replace the original MediaPlayer but without results.
Thanks anyway for the answer

You and a million other users I'd say ;).

But I don't see a solution, for the SoC audio and video are two seperate streams, and without a synchronisation track, the SoC isn't able to sync the two, it plays it as soon as it receives the data. Which is why artificially delaying the audio stream is the only option.

I have no idea how VLC manages the syc if the track is missing, and I don't have the skills to look in the code to find it...
