I am trying to install the PLi develop version on my ET9200.

After flashing the image, I'm encoutering some problems:

1. Installation wizard - the wrong remote control is shown (silver dream RC)

2. AutoDiseqc detection of satellites is very poor. After multiple tries it may find one (out of four)

3. During restoring  the backup and plugins I got errors, causing a boot loop.

Downloading http://downloads.openpli.org/feeds/openpli-develop/mips32el/libsmartcols1_2.36.2-r0.9_mips32el.ipk.

I don’t expect that this issue will actually being solved as none of our members still has an Xtrend et9200 and the need to solve this cosmetic problem is minor IMHO.

These messages indicate a local issue on the box, it can't find the packages in the package indexes in /var/lib/opkg, so it can't assemble a URL to download.

Since this is all prefixed with "python-* instead of "python3-*", you're installing something that is outdated and has python2 dependencies.

Please check the log to see which package triggered these messages.

I made a backup of the box (including autoinstall) before the upgrade.

The box had PLi 8.3. Restoring the backup in PLi9 is obviously causing a problem.

These are the contents of autoinstall:

enigma2-plugin-extensions-lcd4linux
enigma2-plugin-extensions-shoutcast
enigma2-plugin-extensions-werbezapper
enigma2-plugin-systemplugins-mountmanager
libdvbcsa1
libfdisk1
libmad0
libsmartcols1
libudev1
libusb-0.1-4
libusb-1.0-0
png-util
pydpflib
python-certifi
python-chardet
python-image
python-imaging
python-mutagen
python-ndg-httpsclient
python-pysocks
python-pyusb
python-requests
python-simplejson
python-urllib3
softcam-support
streamripper
util-linux-sfdisk

Why are all these dependant packages listed in autoinstall? Will they not be installed with the plugins anyway?

Ok, so it is actually not an issue these are skipped, this happens all the time when restoring an old backup on a new major release.

The autoinstall file is created by making a diff between the list of packages the image comes with, and the list of packages at the time of the backup.

There is no way of knowing how a package is installed, it could be a plugin, a driver, a standalone package like openvpn, anything.

So these errors are cosmetic. But they may not cause a boot loop, so the question is, what causes that?

It reads "/etc/enigma2/resumepoints.pkl" there.

The problem is probably that pickle data is binary, which is not a problem in Python2 as everything is "bytes", but in python3 to store it in an "str" you need to know the encoding of the data stored.

Can you send me your resumepoints.pkl, ideally from the backup tarball so I know it isn't altered in the meantime, so I can do some tests?

Thanks. No more boot loops now.

What about the odd remote control? The Web Interface has got the right one, but the Help screen shows a dream RC. (default?)

No idea how that is done, and at the moment no time to dive into that.

Perhaps @Tech can have a look?

To get the correct remote control we should probably postpone for OpenPLi 10... there are more remotes that are not correctly and maybe for some boxes we need to add a kind of selection in the wizard and maybe also somewhere in a menu.... No idea yet to make this really 'smart and smooth'.

In version 8.3 the RC was detected correctly. What happened in 9.1?

The incorrect remote looks a mistake from the (new) boxinfo stuff.... Needs to be resolved when the image is build (enigma2.info file is build)

p.s. 9.1 isn't ready yet, still being worked on, and not online yet. Did you make a homebuild?

Can you post the /var/lib/enigma.info file from your box? And the result of

grep -r "" /proc/stb

Chances are all that hardcoded detection stuff that was in 8.3 hasn't been ported to enigma-info.
