After upgrading and restoring configs from PLi 8.3, the DNS address is not pre-filled in the adapter settings (with fixed address).
What now happens, is if you check the adapter settings, do not change anything and exit with Save, you will lose DNS settings after a restart.

I know, this has already been addressed, but is it really not possible to prefill the DNS entry with the current value?

IIRC, remove /etc/resolf.conf (and remove it from AutoBackup too), newly it is generated by system.

That is a known issue, and explicitly mentioned in the release notes for 9.0.

And the answer is no. In the old "OE", both DHCP assigned DNS adresses and fixed DNS adresses were written to /etc/resolv.conf instead of /etc/network/interfaces where fixed info belongs, which in turn went into the backup.

Upon restore, we can't determine if the address read back from the backup was assigned by DHCP of was entered as a fixed address.

So if you use a fixed DNS entry, you need to re-enter it after the backup has been restored, only once.

The restore in 9.x does that for you.
