I'm new to using multiboot on a Mutant HD51.

In slot 1 I have an Openpli 9 image that I know well because I have used it for a long time on another Vu+ Duo 4K SE decoder.

In slot 2 I inserted the OpenATV 7.4 image

I accidentally deleted a folder from 7.4 while connected via FTP.

Since then I can no longer do anything with the mutant: no more FTP connection, no more boot and no more flash with the message 'stb hd51 4k' which appears and remains displayed.

What can I do?

PS: Translated by Google

If it doesn't boot, and the box has no recovery menu (which I don't think the HD51 has), the only option is to flash the box again.

Hopefully, you've made a daily autobackup... (and if not, this is your hint to do so from now on).

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

Do you still have access to the box via putty (console?)...

Then try to find if one of these dev's do exist and mount the one that exist "/dev/mmcblk0p1", "/dev/mmcblk1p1", "/dev/mmcblk0p3", "/dev/mmcblk0p4", "/dev/mtdblock2", "/dev/block/by-name/bootoptions"

mkdir test

mount 'dev that is available' test

cd test

In this folder you can find files like these:

ls

root@h17:/test# ls

STARTUP                     STARTUP_LINUX_1_BOXMODE_12  STARTUP_LINUX_2_BOXMODE_12  STARTUP_LINUX_3_BOXMODE_12  STARTUP_LINUX_4_BOXMODE_12
STARTUP_LINUX_1_BOXMODE_1   STARTUP_LINUX_2_BOXMODE_1   STARTUP_LINUX_3_BOXMODE_1   STARTUP_LINUX_4_BOXMODE_1

when you cannot find such files then go back and unmount test, then try the next

When you find such directorry then copy a file that has the slot that can contain openPLi (LINUX_NUMBER, NUMBER is the slot) to STARTUP (without some additions)... the STARTUP file is the file that is used for a reboot

cp STARTUP_FILE_THAT_INCLUDES_OPENPLI STARTUP
reboot

-or-

As far I remember hold the power button while booting the box.. .then the box should come-up in the bootloader and you should be able to select a slot.

@WanWizard

Unfortunately the decoder does not want to start the flash.

It remains stuck on the message 'stb hd51 4k'

Then the only solution is go from zero with flash an image via an USB stick....

As already written above, I can no longer flash the image with a USB key.

It remains stuck on the message 'stb hd51 4k'

Disconnect all other USB devices. Use a different USB stick. Make sure it is formatted FAT32 and not something else.

If it manages to display that, the bootloader should be fine (not that you can damage the bootloader by doing something with FTP).

I have already done all of this without success.

I just started again with a new and clean image of OpenPli multibbot.

The decoder crashes with the message 'no partition' which changes to '0 partition' or ''o partition' and that's it.

What did you delete?

I hope that openATV does not mount a critical partition where you deleted files from....

I was connected via FTP from my Mac and I think it's a folder that was under the 'USR' directory.

The image that was working at that time was OpenATV.

Nothing in /usr should affect the bootloader, it is in a seperate partition.

I hope that openATV does not mount a critical partition where you deleted files from....

Indeed, if that is the case, and you've deleted bootloader files, you're really stuffed, and you might need a jtag or other tools, not even sure if the bootloader image is available.

when you delete something in /usr only you should be able to flash the box via USB stick.... see our WIKI how to do this

https://wiki.openpli...eceivers:Mut@nt

perferably try multiple USB sticks and especially older ones FAT formatted!

I just tried with a FAT USB key (before it was FAT32) and the Mutant gets stuck with the 'no partition' message.

I just got the solution on the OpenATV forum.

It was necessary to update the boot with a small file.

It worked and the Mutant booted on the first attempt without even reading my USB drive.

Thank you all for your help and Merry Christmas.

Good to hear!

Can you post a link to that solution, for others having the same problem and finding this topic?
