Developer resources are limited so we have to decide how to use our time productively to best please the users.

The difference is that the developer resources can be put in work for fixing IPTV as first priority (since that is what is used by bigger range of users). The grid layout can be left for later...
I don't disagree with you about this, it's subjective. Everyone likes something different and that's right, we're not all the same.
I also approve of this choice.However, I was referring to the fact that technically it's always the user who chooses, via the menu, whether to use the grid or the list. Nothing so difficult in my opinion
The difficult is to code that grid layout. If you can do it easy just offer PR for it
