Hi

Having owned a DM7020 and DM500 for over 5 years, I took the dive into an HD receiver, and bought the genuine 800HD PVR.

I have a few questions related to enigma 2, so please bear with me.

What is the boot loader functionality? Can the boot loader be updated, or must a new image be compiled by the PLi team?

Can the drivers be updated? The latest PLi image includes the drivers from 20091005, however it seems the drivers were updated on 20091014. Is it possible to install the new drivers into the PLi image, or must a new image be compiled by the PLi team?

PLi enigma 1 had an excellent GUI settings panel, does one exist in enigma 2 (I can't find it)

I can't seem to be able to open the blue panel. Pressing the blue button doesn't open it.

enigma 1 images had the feature to change the view of the bouquet/channel list by pressing the video button, this doesn't seem to also be available in enigma 2 or am I missing something
Thanks a lot for your help and support

Regards

Zito

Yes you can do this by installing the new bootloader currently at version 75

Can the drivers be updated? The latest PLi image includes the drivers from 20091005, however it seems the drivers were updated on 20091014. Is it possible to install the new drivers into the PLi image, or must a new image be compiled by the PLi team?

Again yes this can be done and there was such an update last week

PLi enigma 1 had an excellent GUI settings panel, does one exist in enigma 2 (I can't find it)

The E2 boxes do it very different and under the system settings menu - Menu|setup|system (but no where similar to the E1 boxes)

I can't seem to be able to open the blue panel. Pressing the blue button doesn't open it.

The blue button on the E2 boxes does different things - simular to the Yellow button on the E1 boxes.

enigma 1 images had the feature to change the view of the bouquet/channel list by pressing the video button, this doesn't seem to also be available in enigma 2 or am I missing something

No you have not missed a thing. This is not in the E2 software by default.
EDIT: answered a question wrong - so fixed it

Thanks johnc for your answers.

Can you please point me to where it was explained how to update the drivers please?

I find it funny that enigma 1 has much more advanced features/control over the box than enigma 2. Is this due to restrictions from enigma 2, or due to the difference in maturity between enigma 1 and enigma 2?

Am I correct in saying that the only way to open the CAM control Window is the following
Menu -> Setup -> SoftCam / CI -> SoftCam Settings

I have some more questions too if you don't mind

Can /var be moved?

Can a Swap be created?

Anyway to change SNR from dB to old format of %?

Anyway to show CAM Expert Info in skin?

The TV/Stop button on the remote control (The button under the red button) doesn't open the bouquets/channel list (Actually doesn't do anything)
Sorry to ask all these questions /images/smiley/shock.gif

Thanks again

Cheers

1. No. Not needed, there is plenty of space, and the entire filesystem is read-write (where in a CDK image only /var is read-write)
2. No. Not needed, a DM800 has plenty of memory

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

Many answers to your question can be found in our new and improved wiki.

Thats not funny after a development time for more then 6 years compared to Enigma1 which is completely rewritten from scratch since 2 years or zo...

Enigma2 is more mature in the GUI as it is more user friendly, you just have to get used to it after using Enigma1 for several years

indeed, thats the correct way to enter your softcam menu

1) the enigma2 boxes like your dm800 has no "var"
2) i never used a swap on my 800 and never experienced problems
3) depends on the skin you use, try dTV-HD
4) depends on the skin you use, try dTV-HD

and forget all your enigma1 knowlegde and start from the beginning with Enigma2 ;)

have fun with your box

on the Glassfibre 1GB DVB-C...

Thanks mate

Please don't get me wrong when I compared Enigma 1 & 2.

I'll take your last sentence and try my best to work with it (Only problem is I still have the DM7020 running on another TV :D)

I added 1 last question to my previous post

The TV/Stop button on the remote control (The button under the redbutton) doesn't open the bouquets/channel list (Actually doesn't doanything), shouldn't it?

Thanks again for your answers and for all the effort the PLi team put into their images.

Cheers
