I do not expect that older hardware can preform as modern hardware.
But this box was advertised as hobby box with a FULL linux.
And as it is NOT a full linux i expected at least the base linux functions to be working,
1 Mounting Ext2 / iso9660 is not working so jou can't even see your holidy foto's burnt on cd.
2 USB keyboard only workiny partialy (probably only dreamkbd functions).
3 usb mous not working
4 No cryptoloop
I know those functions are possible on any linux!
Then the functions that are implemented
The mp3media player does not have a random play multi directory function, so it can't be replacing an 12 year old dvd wit OneFirmwareForAll (they got enything that was possible out of a dvd player).
The dvd player missing lots of functions.
Than playing media with software encoding, did someone try it (i Don't Think so).
I have seen and have Antique (in Computer Terms) hardware and with Linux peform verry well.
For example playing Divx/Xvid with special mediaplayer or VLC without GUI.
So i am a little bit disapointed.

The hardware is more stronger than a dreambox. Only a USB DVB-S2 or DVB-T tuner needed.

gorski, its the amiko one. i have it loaded up with loads of android apps, including angry birds, facebook, ITV player, BBC iPlayer, etc, games, ive loaded XBMC and PLEX onto it, the mashup streaming service and a load more stuff
ive also tuned in all the satellite channels
for me, its a fun box to play with, but, as im so used to the satellite side of things, and the user interface being so customisable, it wouldnt become the main receiver in my house, the missus on the other hand loves everything about it, especially candy crush on the big screen lol

ill post some screen pics over the weekend. personally, i dont like the layout of the sat tv side of it, its all picons, with a mini TV in the corner and not very informative or intuitive to use, but, i suppose that after using linux receivers for so many years, ive been a little spoilt with features i now expect as 'the norm'. it works fine with my fixed, diseqc and usals setups, oscam works to clear PPV channels from my own viewing card based within my own home on a local network. im still mesing with addons and plugins for a decent EPG. its simple to set up, with a very graphical interface for satellite settings etc (pretty much as shown in the flash webpage linked to earlier)
