hello everyone,

I have just registered here and I have a few questins to ask you.

Currently I am using Gemini on my 500+ and I'm thinking of trying pli.

1) Can I start NFS recording via a small, grey remote control instead using web interface?
It is possible on Gemini assigning yellow button to Video and recording starts pressing yellow + radio button.

2) Does pli have email checker?

3) Does pli have automont.conf file so that I don't have to mount folders manually?

4) Does pli have inadyn to update my DNS address?

Thank you!

can you move this thread to 500+ section please?
this is a general question though, not necessarily connected with 500+ but with some other models as well.

1) Yes, I think so. Also, in PLi you can reprogram the yellow and blue button (to several menus and functions)
2) No
3) PLi doesn't have automount.conf, but mounts are automatically mounted at each reboot
4) Yes

I never had a DM500+ by the way, so this not user experience ;)

I installed pli and everything is running fine.

The problem is samba which runs all the time and slows down my dreambox.

How can I turn it off?

(btw, Samba is not using any CPU on any of my 3 boxes - and I use it!)

I just checked and samba doesn't use any processing power but it uses some memory:

I think I can remove packages using pli package manager?

All in all, I think I will continue using pli because it is a very nice image.

The 500+ comes w/ tuxmaild, not sure if that's what you meant by an email checker. I've never used it personally, but it's conf file is in /etc/tuxbox/tuxmail & it's init file is located in /etc/init.d/tuxmail.

Ps.

It's probably easier to just telnet into the DB and run the command:

ipkg remove sambaserver

Unfortunately, tuxmail doesn't support SSL encryption which gmail uses so I cannot use it.
Email checker is something else and it does support SSL.
Never mind, I can live without this.

I removed samba as well as many other packages which I don't need by simply going to pli package manager in plugins and selecting and uninstalling.
I like my images to be as lean as possible so I like this feature in pli.
Gemini doesn't have it so it is one big advantage for pli.

I have some more questions if you are not bored with me :)

1) Is there something like CCcam info plugin for pli?
I checked download section, searched the forum and wiki but I didn't find anything.

2) Also, what I find annoying is when I press OK button on my small, silver remote I get info bar instead of channels list.
I have to press OK twice to get channels list.
Is there any way to fix this?

thank you

2) edit the /usr/share/tuxbox/enigma/resources/rcdm5xxx.xml file ( ignore the read-only copy/edit part of post as it was posted for 500-s, but the remote & behavior is the same)

i did as you told me and restarted enigma and now i get channel list with one press of the OK button.
great tip!

still i don't understand how nobody made a modification to cccam info plugin so that it would work on pli.

Out of curiosity I went to http://www.cccamforu...hread.php?t=118 & downloaded CCcam info 1.1, manually installed the files, configured it and it seemed to work...

I tried and it doesn't work.

I need to create folder 'config' in /var/tuxbox but total commander does't allow me.

WinSCP says that such folder already exists but when I try to enter it, I cannot.

I then manually made a Cccamplug folder via telnet in /var/tuxbox/config but I don't know how to copy necessary files into it.

Meanwhile, I manually installed another plugin and it works OK.

EDIT: when I type mkdir /var/tuxbox/config/Cccamplug
Cccamplug is created in /var/tuxbox, not in /var/tuxbox/config

It seems that config folder is protected and cannot be written in.

on the 600 and the 7020 the /var/tuxbox/config directory is the same thing as the /var/tuxbox and /etc/tuxbox directory
due to config being a link to ./ (or itself)
not too sure about the 500+ is it enigma1 OE box ?
DM800+DM7025+DM7020+DM7000+DM600+DM5620+DM500+VUDUO Dreambox great invention - whats it for ?

500+ is enigma1 OE box.
It has the same file structure as 600 and 7020.
I will now try with Cccamplug created in /var/tuxbox which is the same as /etc/tuxbox.

EDIT: It works!
I created Cccamplug folder in /var/tuxbox and it works.
thank you very much

CCcam info works fine but there is one fly in the ointment :)
