Hi Guys

I am a bit confused with the satellite configuration, hope someone can help me out here.

I have two dishes, one pointed to Eurobird 1, other pointed to 13e and now I want to get 9e. So I bought monoblock and put it on 13e dish. 13e works fine, but 9e channels wont get scanned? I manually entered PID's for a channel to test and see if the signal is ok for 9e and the SNR rate is 55% AGC is 91% and BER is 0%. I don't know what those codes stand for. But looking at the above signals am I getting 9e signals? If I am then then why are not the services being downloaded. When I try to do a manual scan the result says 1 transponders scanned with 0 services. Cross checked transponders values and they all are OK.

If I am getting the 9e signals right then is it something to do with the satellite configuration settings? At the moment I have a LNB switch, where LNB1 is used for Eurobird1, LNB 2 for Hotbird and the option I have selected in satellite configuration is "4 satellites via DiseqC opt A/B" where 1 - eurobird 28 - Diseqc AA, 2 - Hotbird 13 - DiseqC AB, 3 - 9.0e Eurobird - DiseqC BA and 4 is someother satellite which I do not have at the monent. Do you think I have to change the satellite configuration settings?

Where am I going wrong?, Please help.

Thanks

What kind of Diseq are you using between the monoblock and the other dish. It should be a uncommitted switch otherwise it will never work.

good luck

I am sorry knud, but I am new to this area. Do I need a Diseq? At the moment the way I am doing it is I have two dishes with two seperate cables connected to a LNB switch and from that lnb switch one cable goes into DM500. It's working perfectly at the moment for both hotbird and eurobird1. Do you mean to say unless I have a diseq I cannot bring in another sat to the system?

No that is not what i am saying.

Dish 1 1 lnb ------------------------------> switch (position A)

Dish 2 2 lnb 13E -------->|_________>switch (position B)
Dish 2 2 lnb 09E -------->|

So the switch used to switch between dish 1 and dish 2 should be a uncommitted diseq switch. It's respond to the first diseq command and send it through the cable to the dish.
When the switch is not uncommitted the diseq command is stopped at the first switch and in the worst case it doesn't send the diseq commands throug in the other way the same diseq command is transmitted into the monoblock and the monoblock will only leave you with one lnb.
in example: Monoblock on position B will only activate the lnb inside monoblock which is also on position B
Monoblock on position A will only activate the lnb inside the monoblock which is also on position A

Hope i made it clear for you and excuse for my bad english

Good luck

Hi Knud

THanks for your reply. What does a uncommitted diseq mean?

As I have explained my current scenario, what do you suggest? Do I need to install a diseq switch, if yes then where? Should I replace my lnb switch with diseq switch?

Thanks again.

There are 2 options:

Option 1: get a 4-1 diseq and 3 single lnbs and you have to make a holder yourself

Option 2: get a 2-1 diseq uncommitted.

Uncommitted means that the switch will listen to the first part of the diseq command and will continue with the command to the dish, so youre monoblock will also get the command to get to the right lnb.

I am almost sure your switch is not uncommitted and that is the reason that the 3rd lnb will never resond.

If i am not mistaken you can google for example for a spaun SUR211 switch which is uncommitted in compare with the spaun SAR211.

Do not get me wrong i only mentioned the brand and type for example. There are a lot other switches that can do the same.

Good Luck

Edit: the SAR211 is replaced by SAR212.

Thanks Knud, I'd rather for for option 2 than running 3rd cable from the dish. Might end up paying near about to the same.

For time being can I drop Hotbird and move to eurobird9? Or it's not possible at all until and unless I get a uncommitted switch? If it's possible then until I get the diseq switch I can move to Eurobird9e. What settings do I make if at all it's possible?

Please suggest.

In the mean time you can try to change the cables on the switch

your config would change into

AA = Eurobird 9E
AB = Eurobird 28E
BA = nothing
BB = nothing

in stead of

AA = Eurobird 28E
AB = hotbird 13E
BA = nothing
BB = nothing

Good Luck

Hi Knud

Done what you suggested, I am able to download services for eurobird1, but does not work for eurobird9e. Error I get is Error I get is all known transponders have been tried, but no lock was possible. Verify antenna/cable setup or try another satellite/network.

Any idea where I am going wrong?

Are you sure the monoblock has a distance of 4 degrees? (13 - 9 = 4)

Possible you need to adjust the lnb for eurobird 9E or adjust the satelite dish.

Good Luck

I am sure it's 4 degrees, thats what the box said when I bought it.

But now, the scanning process went a bit further, it did not give me any error. It came to a page where it said scanning and just stops there. Does not scan at all. Will cancel the scan, restart the system and try to scan again. Will update you.

It won't work. Even if I remove hotbird from the list and replace it with eurobird 9e it still scans transponders on hotbird. Bit confusing for me. Does that mean that it scans what it sees? I might have to move my dish. Any idea how much and which way should I move my dish if I want to point it to 9e?

Then the worst senario is in your case, the switch is pulling off the diseq commands on the cable and won't go through to the monoblock, or there is also a problem in the monoblock itself.

To move the dish is easy it has to turn a little bit more to the south, use a good signal meter or the box with laptop on which you can see the signal of the lnb.

Good Luck.

Hi!

I have a few questions when it comes to unifying Monoblock + Single LNB.

That's how my equipment looks like:

- Dish 1 >>> Monoblock (16E + 19.2E)
- Dish 2 >>> Single LNB (13E)

Question 1: I would like to unify both systems into a single cable, all 3 LNBs connected to the same tuner. Is this possible?

Question 2: I read that monoblocks have already an internal switch. So, can I use any kind of switch to unify the monoblock and the single LNB? Some people say that it may work only if I use "uncommitted" switches. What does "uncommitted" stand for?

Question 3: What configuration do I have to set at "System > Tuner configuration" if I buy a switch to unify monoblock + single LNB?: Toneburst? DiSEqC A/B? DiSEqC A/B/C/D? Advanced?

Is this how the configuration should look like?
- Monoblock 16E >>> Port AA
- Monoblock 19.2E >>> Port AB
- Single LNB 13E >>> Port BA

Any help will be appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Hi,

From a setup point of view it is easier on your installation to replace the monoblock with 2 singles LNB, so you can use a commited 4 LNBs (3 also exist) and connect your LNB on it and then have 1 cable to your tuner, so setup is quite easy.

But if you want to still use a monoblock then you need to place an uncommited switch 2 entries in front of your current setup. So the first switch to commute is the uncommitted one and then the commited one that is internal to your monoblock LNB.

Thank you so much for your answer Pr2.

It seems we both owe a VU+ device (my device is a VU+ DUO2). If I'm using an uncommitted switch to unite "monoblock + single lnb", do you know what kind of configuration do I have to set at "System > Tuner configuration" ? I'm a bit lost at this point.

Right now I'm using monoblock alone, so my configuration for that tuner is set as "DiSEqC A/B".
In case I wish to add the uncommitted switch to unite "monoblock + single lnb", the situation would change.

Then, what would be the configuration at "System > Tuner configuration" ?
Toneburst? DiSEqC A/B? DiSEqC A/B/C/D? Advanced?

Is this how the configuration should look like?
- Monoblock 16E >>> Port AA
- Monoblock 19.2E >>> Port AB
- Single LNB 13E >>> Port BA

Thanks for your help!

Advanced tuner configuration:

- Monoblock 16E >>>   LNB 1 Uncomitted Port 1 Committed Port A (depending on your setup; if not you just switch around A and B for LNB 1 and 2)
- Monoblock 19.2E >>  LNB 2 Uncomitted Port 1 Committed Port B
- Single LNB 13E >>>   LNB 3 Uncomitted Port 2

Inside the Openpli satellite settings menu Uncommitted (UC) is also referred to as Diseqc 1.1 and Committed as Disecq 1.0.

Just for your information, spanish Televes sells a 4 to 1 diseqc switch, which is specially designed to work with Monoblock LNB's.

It has an internal switch, which makes A+B inputs to be used on Port 1, with a Monoblock.

Look at the bottom of page 2 of this PDF: http://www.televes.e...pt-fr-en-ru.pdf

I forgot to say, that the big difference between the spaun (uncommited, diseqc 1.1) and the televes, is that the Televes works in mode 1.0, so no need to do uncommited.

You can work in 1.0 mode using the monoblock.

Besides, it makes possible to use Monoblock and before the 1.0 switch you can use  a uncommited one and have 16 LNBs.
