Hi Everyone,

I have a Dreambox DM 518-S. I have been trying to access the Dreambox via Ethernet with the following Username and Password:

[*]Username: dreambox
[*]Password: root[/list]I couldn't get in. I have used the "root" as the username and the "dreambox" as the password. Yet there was no luck. Also, I cannot access the interface via TV. It has asked me for a 4 digit pin which one of my mate put for me and now he cannot recall it. What must I do to resolve the problem?

What version of the software are you running? Can't you get into the setup at all? What plugins are installed (yellow button)?
Is samba running (i.e. can you access the box from your PC)? Does the web interface work?

there is none DM518S so you have a clonebox
the official drembox versions are Dm500*

use one of the the software downloads option to reset the login back to original

This is the following answers to your questions:

[*]SAMBA is working fine[/list]With the Samba, I have the IP address for the Dreambox which is "192.168.0.3". I enter that into my browser and it asks me for a Username and Password. Now I know that they are "root" and "dreambox". However, I still cannot get access - even if I enter the username or password or just by leaving the password area blank. Any ideas on how to access the dreambox by cracking the username or password?

Yeah, I checked the software. It is a DM500. On the box though it says DM518-S.

Yes, I cannot access the setup at all. Web interface is working, accessing the dreambox interface via pc is almost impossible since the username and password are required.

If samba is running, what happens if you access the box through samba (in Windows: start, run, and enter "\\192.168.0.3" without the quotes)?

Yeah I tried that and it didn't work.It said "Windows cannot find \\192.168.0.3" (I did not use any quotes when I entered the IP address) Any more suggestions?

You probably have only the samba client running, not the server (which is logical, a 500 doesn't have a storage).

Then I'm out of options. The only thing left is to flash the box with a new image, but that will reset everything else as well...
