I use a DB7020 with the latest Jade release. I try to stream to PC, one Windows XP, one Vista

I have 2 problems with the zapstream:

1. The first time after the box is woken up from standby the zapstream will only start using the vpid method from the web interface. The Web-X-TV method showes a black screen with "No Video"en starting VLC directly with the command ""C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC\vlc.exe" http://192.168.2.1:31344" gives the error that http://192.168.2.1:31344 could not be started.

Once the vpid method has been started, all three methods work till the box is switched off to standby.

It looks, therefore, that after start-up the DB7020 is not responding to the PC, and that the vpid call fixes the problem.

2. The stream is prefect as long as I do not change channels. After a channel change the streaming works for a while, but then the TV screen shows the message"Record failed due to write error during recording. Check for file system corruption". The image on the PC is frozen.

In thee DM7020 zapstream is swiched on. However I do not see the zapstream config file in var/etc/ or in etc/

Can anybody help please?

I never witnessed such behavior.

Could you enable logging? This is done in zapstream.conf. Attach the logfile with your next post.

I have enabled the logging. After wake up and starting with Web-X-TV I get the following logging:

26-04-2010 11:45:42.671953 3651 Log opened (bufsize=940000)
26-04-2010 11:45:42.693041 3651 request GET / HTTP/1.1

26-04-2010 11:45:42.693370 3651 http protocol version 1.1
26-04-2010 11:45:42.757708 3652 Log opened (bufsize=940000)
26-04-2010 11:45:42.779083 3652 request GET / HTTP/1.0

26-04-2010 11:45:42.779457 3652 http protocol version 1.0
26-04-2010 11:45:42.851607 3653 Log opened (bufsize=940000)
26-04-2010 11:45:42.875114 3653 request GET / HTTP/1.0

26-04-2010 11:45:42.875484 3653 http protocol version 1.0

After starting with "C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC\vlc.exe" http://192.168.2.1:31344 I get an empty logfile.

I use Google Chrome as browser, but I get the same performance with Microsoft Internet explorer.

After starting with the vpid method I get the logfile as attached.

I wonder if my problem might be firewall related. I use a LAN with router Thompsom TG787, PC's and dreambox connected with cable.

You say that you have not seen my problem before. Do you mean both problems or only problem number 1?

The lack of response to my questions made me suspect that my problem was not a common one.

Therefore I re-installed Jade 3, and after this all streaming worked perfectly. The problem, therefore, seems to have been caused by some error in the previous installation.

A good thing of these problems is that I found that it is possible to start a video stream from Dreambox to PC with the simple command: "C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC\vlc.exe" http://192.168.2.1:31344, the path for VLC and the IP number of the Dreambox being of course dependent on your settings. It can be done from the cmd line, but much easier from a Windows shortcut to VLC which you can edit easily in "Properties/Shortcut" to add the IP address and the port number( i.e. http://192.168.2.1:31344). This way you do not use a brouwser.

That assumption is correct. Still don't have a clue about what went wrong, maybe some misbehaving plugin. You did reboot the box occasionally? Otherwise rouge streaming processes might have given these problems. How the "Recording failed" error happened is even more mysterious to me.

A direct shortcut to watch tv is nice indeed!

Sjaaki, yes I did reboot a number of times, because of the box being frozen, or because I had to get it of the mains anyway. As a matter of fact I suspect that my box has never done the streaming as designed. ( I have used Helenite and Iolite). In the past I did not try very hard because I did not really needed streaming. Now I have moved house and want to watch TV on a PC because of the layout of the house.

As to the problem, it became clear that it was probably something in the box, because the problems did not occur on #2 PC if the box had already been addressed by PC #1. I have obtained the error "Record failed etc. " once more in the new situation when I tried to switch on recording on HD when the streaming was still in progress. In this case the error message is more understandable: the box is using its file system routines for streaming and cannot at the same time record to HDD.

Another thought that occurred to me is as follows. I burn the image via the web interface. When the website reports 100% transfer of the files, it remains in busy state (hourglass for cursor). In the past I stopped the this by switching off the website. This time I was doing something else and when I returned the box had started up completed (hourglass still on!). So maybe in the past always stopped the burning too early!

In any case, end good all good. The streaming box => PC provided by PLI is very impressive and easy to set up. My compliments and thanks for your comments!
