DM500S;- Where are the satellite files stored?

I have an enormously long list of satellites, most of which are in the Northern Hemisphere and far too west for us here, we're way down in the South Pacific. I would like to trim/edit the size of the satellite file/s down a bit to a few limited satellites available to us here in this part of the globe, notably from approx 120 East to 180East on Ku band or even some on C band in the same range.
I am happy to edit them either in a text editor in Windoze or as an .XML file in Micro$oft Excel then copy them back to the right Linux folder or directory (???) or directly edit them in the DM500S Linux environment. I also need to update the existing transponder lists such as Optus D3 which went into orbit last August as did JCSAT-R. Where can I copy or delete them from within the DM500S Linux file system? I HAVE NO TROUBLE ACTUALLY OBTAINING THE SATELLITE AND TRANSPONDER DATA BUT NEED TO KNOW HOW AND WHERE TO PUT IT...
I'm on Skype if people want to help out in real time conversations or leave your message here? ZL2ROB. Many thanks, Rob.

Note that Jade is an old image. You might want to switch to OpenPLi, it has an up-to-date sattelites list on board as well.
Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Pro (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)
Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

The problem for us is WHERE TO FIND THE actual files on the Dreambox for editing the satellites listings? It seems as if Dreambox Edit wants to store them in some place on the Dreambox 500S but it doesn't pick up or new or amended satellite/s listings and find, apply or use them in the DM500S.
We have even rebooted after alterations (it SHOULDN'T be necessary in Linux but was in Windoze) to make sure it re-read file updates. Nothin' happens and no chages to the satellite listings. Kind regards, Robert.

There's a default list in the image (which is read-only), DreamboxEdit stores it's updated version in /var/etc. When you reboot the box, it checks if this file exists, and if it does, it will use it instead of the read-only one.
