I was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction on documentation how the lamedb entries for the channels like this:
ABC News 24
p:ABC
3aa0:06180000:000f:1000:1:0
Translates into the
<channel id="abcnews24.free.au">1:0:1:0fab:0451:0035:00c00000:0:0:0:</channel>
Or is there a program where channels can be selected and mapped to the xmltv data?
The rytec.channels.xml refers to lamedb, but does not really explain how the mapping works.
I intend to setup a rytec.channels.xml file for australian channels. The xmltv data could be downloaded from http://www.epg-service.tv/ if we could map the services to the channels on the box. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you very much

In general this looks OK.
However generating this part
1:0:1:0fab:0451:0035:00c00000:0:0:0:
could be easier than extrating it out of the lamedb fle
Several options are possible:
1. Use of makeref.vbs. Attached
copy this file into a folder together with the lamedb file. Run the makeref.vbs file (it is a visual Basic script).
A file will be written in the same folder. In thsi file the refs are now given in the correct syntax.
2. Make a bouquet of the channels you want to provide epg to in dreamset or dreamboxedit. Save the info to folder on your PC.
Open this folder and look to the files: userbouquet.dbe11.tv and similar.
Open the file which corresponds to the bouquet you just made.
All the refs for the channels are in this file (it is a text file. However the channelnames are missing. But the order is the same as in the bouquet you have made.
3. Use my reference generator. This is written for the rytec packages, but can be adapted to your sources. for this you have to edit the drop downbox on the setup page with your own information. This is information from which I say into the help not to edit. To adapt to your own sources - you have to edit them.

But offcourse the epg data files have to be kept up to date or if you point us to some sites where epg data can be grabbed from we can always see what to do.
Willy and I can discuss internal here, what's best for us.

Ryan

Interested to see you are planning to extend Rytec EPG to Aus.
I've just obtained a Vu+ Duo and I'm using the OpenPLi image. I selected this image after briefly trying VTi and Vix because I like to be able to turn off EIT and also because it is 'open'.
Currently I'm using e2_loadepg ( http://www.ambrosa.n.../E2history.html) which allows me to merge data from radiotimes, oztivo and also from the epg channel on C1. I'm just using the FTA Aurora channels (ABC WA, WIN, GWN, ABC TV NT, SCTV, IMP,SBS WA, SBS NT, WLK, NITV, ALJAZEERA, EXPO, TVSN) and I'm located 'outback' reliant totally on satellite signals.
E2_loadepg works quite well but is slow compared to Rytec and CrossEPG.
Let me know if there is any way I can help your project.

AJM

However we do not have access to the australian satelites (for obvious reasons). So we need some information from the australian channels.
The easiest way to obtain this information is using Dreamset or Dreambox edit
Procedure works for both the e1 and e2 boxes.
1. Start dreamset or dreamboxedit on your PC.
2. Connect to your dreambox.
3. download the settings of your dreambox to the program.
4. Create a bouquet / Setting list in Dreamset / Dreamboxedit
5. Put in this bouquet all the channels where you want epg from.
6. Delete all the other bouquet / Settings Lists
7. Save this info to an dir on your PC.
8. Zip or Rar this dir and post this info
This will give us the needed info.
Important: do not upload this setting list to your dreambox as this will overwrite the existing settinglist in your dreambox.
If you can provide us with this information will put the sources and channel links into the Rytec files. The actual epg will be downloaded from the australian sources which are given above.

Thank you for all the help. I have now managed to get epg data on the dreambox. Works great. I had to fiddle the openoffice macros quite a bit to work under ubuntu . the visualbasic macro works as well. There are no HD channels ( I am not quite sure why yet) . I had to edit a bits so it was a bit of a dirty job. I am sure you guys can do this much better, so I enclose the dreamboxedit output as wanted from doglover.
If anyone is interested I also enclose my channels files for fox Sydney, fta Sydney and also the rytec.sources.xml.
The current source seems to be updated ok itm. There is another source for epg data (http://www.oztivo.net/twiki/bin/view) , but you have to login to get the data.
Cheers

As a test could you place the files in your box in etc/epgimport and try both the Own sources pls.
Report what the result is.
If everything is OK, we will include these in the rytec sources.

Is there any chance of including a few more of the FTA channels available on Optus Aurora. I note you have most of them except:

I also notice that doglover's lists are different from yours. Should this be so?

mcs had a go at it, and I did the same. I still have to exame what the difference are, and it I or mcs did make mistakes (which is likely).
As to the channels above, I did not find them in the epg provided. Will search a bit further for them.
However realize this is the first attempt to import epg with epg Importer plug-in.

Can confirm that the files work perfectly!
I think the reason for any differences is that I have probably used a different way of producing the files, but both of them should work. For the free channels you cannot use the foxtel file, you need the free file that should do the trick.
Hope that helps

To clarify again:
I have the same list of channels as posted by doglover.
For example I also have got 7 Central downloading the epg. For IMP for instance there is no epg data posted, there is not a lot we can do about this
( other than collate data and offer the xml file online. A nice soul is currently doing that for the free channels mentioned and foxtel)
Maybe your data is on a transponder I do not have, at least 7 Central should work for you (stick50jr). I will check the details again.
@doglover:
Could you please tell me where to find ( which macro I suppose) the pre defined values given on page "settings" of the ods file. I only could edit one of the predefined datasets (Rytec UK XMLTV) but not add a new one for the Australian channels.
I am also trying to implement this for enigma 1, but itm having trouble getting the sqlite and Dreambiox epg config to work on my image.
Best wishes
mcs

You advised that the data for Imparja (and presumably WIN WA and GWN) are not available at
http://www.epg-service.tv/. I understand. The only availability for this data that I'm aware of is through Oztivo or by skimming the data from web pages of those stations.
I guess things may change as the new VAST FTA services replace the old Aurora FTA services. In the meantime, I imagine I must stick with e2_loadepg and get the individual xml files for each of the mentioned channels.

AJM
