I am writing a script on a DM500S running Pli Jade 3

I am created a tar.gz file using 7Zip but when I run following command to extract the file

tar -xzvf file.tar.gz

I get a invalid tar magic file

is the issue with the tar.gz file created or does the version of Tar on the Jade3 image doesnt support certain types of tar.gz files

just create the tarbal on your box, the 7zip is too new for the old dm500

tar czvf tarbalnaam.tar.gz var



c = create

z = zip

v = verbose

f = to file

it was 7zip that wasnt creating the tar.gz files correctly used IZArc instead and now file can be extracted on the DM500S
